i totally get it, i got quite a few complaints about it haha. i didn't think too much of it because i got used to it pretty quickly while working on it, but watching other people play showed me pretty quickly that some people are prone to constantly lose books around shelves, and are forced to learn a skill that has nothing to do with the game, which is unfair in my opinion and not fun... tedious even.
However, due to all the feedback, I've fixed it! - for version 0.2.0 the book gets held closer to the player and stops "snapping" to surfaces!
Thanks for the feedback, really appreciate it!
I've had a couple people complain about that actually - originally I was gonna make them shuffle every playthrough but realized quickly THAT was 💩💩💩 ahahah. The crouching is actually a bug, i might keep it, not sure yet... i think its hilarious when people crouch and don't realise its still coming toward them, scares the CRAP out of them 😂 but its also a bit unfair if you only discover it late-game... what do you think?
Cheers for the feedback mate!
Thank you for checking it out!
Book Physics - I know exactly what you're referencing, I'm currently working on version 0.2 at the moment and have re-worked the book physics to not "stick" to surfaces. It made placing and scanning more tactile but also made it SOOOO much easier to lose the book around corners, etc.. Just ran out of time for the jam!
Thank you for the feedback, really appreciate it 👏🎃
haha yep its part of the challenge, you know you have to keep an eye on the ghost but you have to also look around for categories! 😂 my favorite is when people run-and-gun the books and completely lose track of the ghost, in retrospect I should've added a map near the scanner or something, it'd help with early game and slightly with late game 🤔 thanks for checking it out!
hahaha you've nailed it - there's always a monotonous task, making it fun was a challenge - was originally going to be much more complex but straightforward... i decided to go with less complex but with less straightforward. i feel like the only way you can truly win is with a couple playthroughs! when it was at 16 books to win - i saw a few people beat it in 1 go so i had to dial it up slightly 😂
glad you liked it and thanks for checking it out!
