Someday I'd love to make a zine comprised of people's players and stories from their games. Love to hear people enjoying it!!

Oh wow, that's awesome!!

"I will not stop you" is a pretty rude and patronizing choice of words, considering you are in absolutely no way an authority over this creator- or anyone for that matter.

Thank you! It was a spark of wonderful madness from the overwhelming flurry of emotions I felt during a very unprecedented day!

I'm Scott!

I'm particularly interested in Solo RPGs such as wretched & alone or the Carta systems

This was the first time I've made a game specifically for the sake of a Jam.

I wasn't planning to participate in this jam, until the news today gave me a vivid and extemporaneous inspiration, and I HAD to make the whole thing on the spot. It felt great to flush it out of my system immediately!

This game was so much fun to play. It took me a few days, but the week-to-week cycle made it easy to pause and pick it right back up again. The Survival segments were nerve wracking, and the ending felt earned and satisfying.

There's so many ways this story can unfold, and I am so thrilled by how I could play the game all over again right after finishing a playthrough, and I KNOW that it will be a totally different story the second and third time 'round.

How are there not more comments??? This is Amazing!! I am truly inspired by the writing, the visuals, all of it. I am shocked that this is available for free. If this were a game, I'd buy it twice. I am going to be sharing this with everyone I possibly can!!

I playtested an early prototype, and after finally getting to try the finished product, I am really impressed! This game can go a lot of different places based on the roll of a die, and the alternative story tables included greatly expand the possibilities for an already very replayable game.

Below was my first playthrough

And this was my second playthrough:

As you can see from these two characters I played, there's so much potential in your final result. Nearly every prompt gives you the choice to either describe or draw something. My first instinct was that writing would be faster, but I soon realized that drawing often saved much more space- and thus gave me more chances to play before running out of real estate! Plus, as I draw some of these pictures, it forced my mind to think deeper on what world I'm building in my head, and how to fit the pieces together. It was a really fun way of immersing me! On my second run through, (the computer screen one) I began to think about the page itself as an art project, and how I wanted to make it look like a finished story-telling piece, so I tried to connect visually with my specific character and how I could bring that out to the page. The end result was totally unique from my first! I had a lot of fun, and even shed a literal tear (!!!) when I had to type out his final words.

Give it a try! That's my recommendation, it's fun fast and free!!!

Celebrity Rat Trap

I recently posted a free Solo journaling RPG!

In Celebrity Rat Trap, you use a 6 sided die to create your own washed-up D-list celebrity, and the 11 other once-famous housemates you'll be competing against on this reality competition. Each "episode" a housemate is eliminated, and the final winner walks away with 500,000 dollars and 30 seconds of rekindled fame. Throughout your time on the show, you will record your highs and lows in the confession booth while struggling with challenges, housemate squabbles, and your own self doubts.

The tone of Celebrity Rat Trap is both comedic and tragic, and explores themes of cynicism, tabloid scandals, the pursuit of fame and validation from feeling known.

The game takes approximately an hour to complete start to finish, and is designed to feel narratively satisfying and immersive regardless of whether you ultimately win or lose. (Hopefully!)

You can try it out for free over here!

Celebrity Rat Trap's system is partially inspired by the One-Page table system developed by M. Kirin for "One Page Left".

Your game really inspired me! I loved the system you used for multiple dice rolls to create a wide array of potential character traits, and the progressive story flow of the table.

I've credited you and your table system in this new Solo-RPG game of my own that I've just released! https://roguecentaur.itch.io/celebrity-rat-trap

I would love to see an entire Jam dedicated to all the possibilities of your system! :D

I am a little discomforted that one of the games in this collection, Crimson, requires that the player be injured to the point of bleeding, and that they use a bandage to play with the blood and then hide the bandage somewhere outside. Both totally unhygenic as a biohazard someone else might find, and also... poses quite the risk of triggering or even encouraging people to self-harm themselves..

I know that's not the intention, clearly a lot of love is put into this, but.. regardless of intention it seems irresponsible to have a game which has instructions that start with "first for this game you have to get cut."
