I learned how to make 3D models that actually work. I mean I spent last 5 years learning Blender and have been making some models, but now I had to learn how to put it to Unreal, how to solve every problem (e.g. where the heck are materials :D or how to properly delete a rig that was already attached to 3D characters we downloaded - with proper licence - for our game, bce it was a mess in Mixamo and in Unreal). I learned my routine (center model before exporting, apply transforms, check the scale several times, check face orientation --> just basics, but messing them nonstop.
I also learned something as a person. I am a woman and I constantly doubt my abilities as a 3D graphic artist, since I spent last 5 years with Blender and I am still not in the game dev industry. I tend to postpone everything regarding 3D and I was depressed bce I haven't opened Blender for around 10 months recently. But 5 months ago I got pregnant and I got angry with myself that my time with 3D is now limited, so this month I started to hammer away at 3D and I used everything I know in this game jam. I am proud at myself now. We did it. We made a functional game and we all will continue after this jam with our project. Since I started working with Unreal and Git, I finally feel like I know something about making games :-)

I want put my signature to everything you said.
I am glad that I participated - I learned a lot as a 3D graphic designer. I am glad I could see how tough is to get a good evaluation. Also, I was shocked how much people who were making games were crying to get some review, and how many dishonest people rated games that they didn't play (e.g. "This game is great! The sound is amazing!" - in the game at which authors themselves apologize for not including any sounds at all). Of course that the "top games" that won aren't top. It's life. I am disappointed that we got low evaluation but I am not discouraged from making games at all. This was a very good experience.
Hi, we also havent enough ratings, so I would like to ask you to give our game a try: https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-6/rate/1176894 :)
Your game is good :-) I like how you must find the solutions - equip yourself, find the key, find the spaceship....but what next? The spaceship cannot go down, so I probably missed sth. I liked the animations - they are not easy when you do a game solo. I would recommend you fix the camera when you are in buildings (ceiling is an obstacle) and also keep in mind that ppl may have 2 monitors (like me :D) and your mouse can get outside the monitor with the game (its fixable). I liked your elevator very much ^^ but would be better if you could also jump in the game.
Nice game. I had to learn first that I have to kill enemies in order to get points for moving and I don't know if it matters but I charged "turrets" from A - D. Even so, the game didn't end so I expect there was "turret E" somewhere. Graphics is good, audio also, maybe focus (red light) is a bit strange. I think there is a bug, when you stay outside turrets and kill all enemies, no other enemies spawn? All in all, this was very interesting game.
I would like to ask you to rate our game too, if you have spare time, sice we haven't enough rating yet :)
Hi, here is our game: https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-6/rate/1176894
We appreciate every rating we get :-)
You graphics is quite good :) and audio is interesting. I would recommend you to fix moving a bit. It was more satisfying to jump nonstop instead of sprinting - walking is not fluent. Sprinting should be faster. I like game loading --> you included text and picture there, I didn't see this effect at any other game including ours (also made in Unity). If I die, there is no mouse to click on replay. Its also easy to collide with terrain and fall under it. Your game is good, but too buggy.
Well done :) This was one of top games I played from others. I liked the music very much, a lot of ppl don't pay attention to do a proper audio (well, like we in our game :D ). The graphics is excellent. The first impression was pretty chaotic but at the end, I enjoyed mixing potions and managed it quite well. The voice of the wizard is great also - maybe if somebody wants to replay a game, make it possible to skip his intro.
Hi,
your game is quite unbalanced. Graphics is quite good, maybe your character could be smaller. Music is ok. Bud moving in the game is very difficult. If I hold keys too long, character becomes very fast and unable to control. If I sometimes try to jump, almost nothing happens. Movements should be always the same (lenght of jump, walk). Also I met floating islands where I was supposed to jump, but I couldn't jump so far up. Maybe its broken? Combat was also difficult, I was getting hit too much easy, It wasn't clear if my attacks hit the enemy. However, I liked that you did more than 1 level. I also liked very much the possibility to change weapons. The moving and attacking are your main drawbacks. All in all, you did a good job.
Your graphics is very good and also the animation of characters. However, it takes more than killing in order to achieve a high score to make a game entertaining. Your game has no goal and seems unfinished. Maybe try to put there another mechanism like adding a game level or collecting sth, make your game finite somehow. I know one week isn't enough, our own game is very limited in routes and possibilities.
As mentioned below, graphics is quite bad. You doesn't have to make own assets and in this case, it would be better if you rather took some already finished free assets. In case you create your next game in Unity, there is a lot of free assets in their UnityStore (like hundreds of free assets - https://assetstore.unity.com/) or you can visit https://www.cgtrader.com/free-3d-models/architectural for free assets etc. For free textures, I will reccomend you: https://polyhaven.com/textures and https://www.textures.com/library ). It seem you also have a problem with mapping textures correctly (so either don't use textures which needs mapping and use simple colors or you may want to watch some tutorials on "UV mapping" and "unwrapping models"). I appreciate that you did a game alone, but I cannot give you good rating, bce the game seems shoddy, sorry.
Hi :) you game is nice. I like the theme, it's dark and quite chaotic :-) . Graphic style is great, audio could be a bit better (something darker, with deeper tones). Animation of the attack could be of better quality. I was positively surprised by the "game menu" (building) and I like the possibility to exit game this way very much. Maybe improve "visibility" of the character, he blends a bit with its surrounding. Good job :)
Thank you for your feedback :) I appreciate time you put into a review. We originally planned to give the Chaos knight more animations - various types of attack - and our 2D graphic designer already made an icon for 1 special attack, but unfortunatelly, time was against us. As for myself, I worked on the game 14h a day Mon-Sun, and even so, Cathedral have 50% of its textures (I gave up baking textures in 4 a.m. on Sunday xD) and its objects. Chaos knight should have a skin material (something went wrong) and his armor is kind of shit, I know. In the future, I definitelly plan to learn how to use textures properly. All in all, making this game teached me how much is time-consuming to make a 3D RPG and gave me new skills and sped up my modelling ^^
Hi!
You made a very good game :-) . It's pitty you have no audio, but in all other aspects I gave you 5*. I usually don't play this kind of games, since I prefer 3D RPG style, but you game was very fun:
-I liked the concept of rolling veru much, this hasn't a lot of games
-I liked the returning of the weapon even more, it reminded me of Xayah from League of Legends :-)
- your graphics is very good, but it would be even better if it was consistent (upper half of a map looks like obvious pixel art, lower half is much more smooth, the fence in the middle doesn't fit).
I must also praise the pragmatic point of view: when I downloaded the game, it was only in 1 file (a lot of ppl don't pack it sadly), It is also important that you mentioned controls (a lot of ppls don't do it and its annoying).
If you want, try our game (its of course optional)
Hi,
I tried your game and rated it. Here is ours, if you want to play it: https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-6/rate/1176894
(of course it is voluntary)
Very nice game :-) This is a first game of this game jam that I consider "consistent" and "complete". Graphics of this game is good-looking, I personally liked big trees the most ;) . Boss was quite hard xD . I like that you included some math-solving and importance of timing. My advice for u: the character could be turned to you at least a bit (not 100% side view, if you know what I think), so you could see his second eye. Now his face looks a bit like a fish :) Otherwise there is nothing to mention and I gave you 5* in all criteria.
I know it is lame, but I must give you 5 stars in all the aspects. This is so elaborated game, but as Zbakvinster, my colleague (who immediatelly sent me this game to play, because he liked it really much :D ) already said - this game is like an intro to "build your own carpal tunnel" xD. Nice work, really. Music sounds good, graphics is good (effects especially), you have a lot of potential in your age :-) I hope you will get your dream job in game dev. (don't pay attention yo bold style, its bugged)
This is a really good game, it is quite unique and I liked it :-) . My notes for you: 1. there should be a possibility, how to survive bee' sting bce otherise you die for being almost paralized, the game punishes you in that way too hard I think. 2. I didn't get the flowers - are they there just to stop you and limit your movement? Your graphics is really good, so is the music :-)
I really like this game. It's catchy and I like also the controlling (keyboard) and sound effects. However, I think the text at the beginning should be much sooner gone or more important, a player should have the option to skip it by mouse click, bce I had to restart the game and it was annoying to wait for the intro to disappear. Your graphics is good, but there is place for improvement.
