In what way does your game fit the theme?
There are a lot of people roaming around in the town in cars as well as on foot. On top of that many people are getting infected by covid, adding to the chaos of the town.
Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
Code - Yes
Assets - Yes, except for the textures which were from cc0textures.com
I would recommend adding a tutorial as I don't know how to save people. Can you let me know how that works so I can give the game another shot?
Thanks for the review! I will add a tutorial. For saving a person: if the person is in red colour that means it is infected. Just go close to him and there will be a text popping up, press K to save the person. You need to press K and the person will be back to normal colour and start walking. But make sure you are fast enough, don't let the covid meter fill! Otherwise you would get infected. Thats how the game works.
Great idea but the controls is not good, the "K" key is too far for both WASD and arrow key + I need the mouse to turn the camera. Maybe turn it into a shooter where you shoot people with a vaccine or something, if the person has the virus they are healed then if the person has no virus but shot they become immune for a few sec.
I sadly couldn't play, I am on a mac. Game looks good from the screenshots though. I am honestly surprised more people didn't make covid games.
I like the game! It's a bit hard, but I guess that COULD be a definition of what chaos is, so I think you did pretty good. The keys did feel a bit awkward, but i guess that's part of the fun. i do agree that setting the button from k to e would be better though.
If you have the time, do you think you could try out our game as well? It would mean the world if you could rate it :D
it can be better with some button instruction before we play the game, Nice Job!!
I barely manage to save 6 people (the one on the screen shot too, then I died). But I must approach them smashing the k key like hell before getting near, cause the covid bar fill extremely fast (0.1 seconds or less).
The idea is not bad at all. There's lot of room for improvement. The K key is kind of awkward, at least in my case. If you play with WASD or arrows, it just far from both of them. Won't be a problem if my other hand was free, but I need to use the mouse too.
The minimap is very helpful, although I'm not sure if the rotation is a good idea. I had a hard time figuring out where I was pointing at.
You did a lot of work on your own making the coding, models and the animations.
Anyway, congratulations on submitting your game in time.
As mentioned below, graphics is quite bad. You doesn't have to make own assets and in this case, it would be better if you rather took some already finished free assets. In case you create your next game in Unity, there is a lot of free assets in their UnityStore (like hundreds of free assets - https://assetstore.unity.com/) or you can visit https://www.cgtrader.com/free-3d-models/architectural for free assets etc. For free textures, I will reccomend you: https://polyhaven.com/textures and https://www.textures.com/library ). It seem you also have a problem with mapping textures correctly (so either don't use textures which needs mapping and use simple colors or you may want to watch some tutorials on "UV mapping" and "unwrapping models"). I appreciate that you did a game alone, but I cannot give you good rating, bce the game seems shoddy, sorry.
It was quite easy to heal people without dying if I just spammed k, and I also wasn't sure what all the other colours were for. Five stars for innovation though- I haven't seen any similar games based around covid yet. The audio was fine although you should really look into some lighting and texturing courses in UE4. The concept is fine but the game would be a lot better a lot if you focused on improving the technical aspect- lighting, modelling, textures, etc. Good effort overall!
