Hey Burrito,
Thanks so much for your comment and feedback! I completely agree with everything you said. I think a more metroidvania-style hub that you branched out from would have made the game better, as well as overarching goals. You said revisiting old areas with new "parts/powers/knowledge" would make the game feel more connected and rewarding -- I agree with you again, and there were supposed to be more abilities and backtracking (like different types of arms besides the 1 you find), but the 48 hours flew by so fast lol. Same reason why the game isn't as polished as it should be.
Thanks again for writing this! It made me happy that someone took the time to leave such valuable feedback on something I made. I will definitely remember your advice next time I make a game like this :)
Excellent job! One of the best games I've played so far in this jam. It was really intuitive to pick up and get used to. I liked the 3D art and chill soundtrack that kept playing. I played all the way until the end and would have kept playing if the game was longer. I would have liked to see other advanced mechanics to take the horse marriage to its extreme, but I understand how limiting the 48 hour window is lol. +++ points for a name that rhymes.
Nice take on 'joined to-get-her' lol. The game was a little hard to pick up, I think giving a bit more of an introduction to the mechanics and controls would help. It was pretty fun to navigate the maze though, especially with all the husbands pathfinding and cutting off my escape routes! Nice work overall.
Really sick visuals! Love the cool greenish palette you chose for the 2 colors. The game was tricky but fun. Jumping felt polished and I liked how the animation changed as you went up and down. Felt really responsive. The enemy that pops out of the ground did kill me a few times because I thought it was grass or something lol. It's tricky to make stuff look distinguishable with 2 possible colors.
Nice entry! I have a few tips that may be worth considering.
- To easily improve the visuals of a game in a small amount of time, you can look up a color palette and use those colors.
- I think the shooting would be more fun if you could hold down the button to shoot AND if it shot faster. Using a machine gun would be more fun than a slow pistol.
- You could balance this by making enemies spawn faster, which would increase the action overall.
