Thank you for your feedback :) Yes, wish i found out about the bug during playtest :( Was an easy fix.

Thank you for your feedback ^^ Yes, an animation would be nice. Tried it but wasn't real happy with the result so ended up moving on. Art is definitely not my cup of tea hehe

Thanks for the solid feedback ^^

Thanks for your feedback ^^

Nice game. Glad i get a chance to try out a dungeon crawler. The box puzzles had me baffled. Surprised how much you got done in one week ^^

  • Lower the sound from the portal effect
  • Limit the amount of rewind, add a cooldown or maybe even give like a temporary shield to enemies i dunno hehe. Felt like i could just spam it. Also felt like they had a bit too much life. Shooting enemies felt bit boring because of all this.

Oh yeah, and opening the game with a zoom-in penguin like that. Brilliant stuff :)

Please try my game out too.

I will try yours now. Please have a go at mine ^^ https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-4/rate/723589

Scary stuff jezus. Good job on the game mate :) I liked how you get pulled into the story and how you unravel the mechanic. Very innovative mechanic too. I like the attention to details and your knack for creeping me out :P

Maybe one little constructive feedback would have been to make it a little brighter in some places.

I presume you are also from Belgium? Anyways, good job and please try my game too ^^

Haha, god seems to happen to so many people. I think all i had to do was add a slippery material to the prefab and this wouldn't have happened :) An option to restart would have helped in this situation but no time budget for it lol

Really loved the artwork and audio. Think you have a real talent for it. The dialogue windows were also nicely made and the characters.

Some constructive feedback:

  • I didn't know i could run, so the first playthrough was kinda slow.
  • Lackey always died, no matter what i do. I really don't understand. Really curious what i'm supposed to do or what i did wrong. Even if i try to do a playthrough and i just keep running and shooting, i never reach his house :D
  • EDIT: also more user friendly controls for AZERTY keyboard users is always a nice thing to do. E.g. enable arrow keys for movement.

Think this game has real potential for a commercial version similar to Blade Runner, where you have to kind of puzzle detective your way through the story.

Anyways, good job and please try my game too ^^

Really nice audio and visuals. I like your character sprites a lot.

Just like SergiM27, i also got stuck because i jumped over the air duct. Not sure what else i can say. Just a fun, mellow game to play.

Please try my game too ^^

Going to play, comment and rate. Please give mine a try too ^^ https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-4/rate/723589

Hey David :) Played, commented and rated ^^ Please give mine a try too https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-4/rate/723589

Nice game. Think the visuals, the sound effects and music were all good. Also love the idea of jumping on the bookshelves.

Some constructive feedback:

  • Couldn't get past the second level. I think the enemies just keep spawning or something as i felt i was outmatched all the time. For example when entering the door on the top right to go and get the silver key, there's 2 mobs there with a shield, a normal mob, but only 1 rock. After trying to level again i brought another rock with me so i could kill the 2 mobs with shield, get the silver key. But when i exit, on the bottom of the level there are now 6 mobs. There's just no way i can survive it hehe.
  • When throwing a rock at a mob, i would also like it to kill the mob, or stun it or something.
  • Then i mention this on a lot of submissions. On an AZERTY keyboard the controls are a bit hard. I managed to get used to the controls, but it's always a good idea to keep that into account.

Anyways, good game and keep jamming! Please give mine a try too ^^

Really beautiful game. Great visuals and audio. Love the concept.

For me the movement was just way too hard. I'm surprised it's not being mentioned here more.

  • The movement felt so uncontrollable. I tried on easy mode first. In the first 20 tries i just kept going to fast and not being able to slow down enough when i wanted. It'll just either fly me into the ceiling or into the wall. So i really felt like i needed more deacceleration when going up at high speeds.
  • Then i went and figured i should maybe do the tutorial first. But also here i kept having the same problem. So i figured maybe i need to take it more easy. So i slowed it down to barely moving, little movements at a time, but also then i don't see the incoming objects fast enough and can't adjust my placement onscreen in time.
  • Rewinding didn't help me at all. It usually positions me just where i'll end up crashing straight after releasing it. I think it needs something like a grace period where i get more time to prepare or regain my sense of movement.
  • Fullscreen option didn't seem to scale it to screen. Maybe intended to be so?

Really love the game but found it very unfortunate i couldn't get the controls to work for me even though i tried hard to get it right. I'll blame myself for it since everyone else seems to manage it hehe. But felt like i should tell you.

Anyways, good job and please try out my game too ^^ I feel bad for sounding so negative...

Really beautifull game and good audio. Also really loved the sound effects of the UI menu in the beginning. Would love to see how the project looks in Unity to learn from it ^^.

Some constructive feedback:

  • I think adding some kind of charge indicator, to help you know how much energy you "rewinded", would go a long way towards satisfying gameplay. It's frustrating where as a player you don't feel like you can master it. But with a visual help it would be a lot easier to start learning how far your character will walk.
  • I ran into a bug on the first location where you have to jump your way to the next platforms higher up. My character got stuck on that edge and all it did was continuously jump up and down.

But the game is a gem. Hard not to fall in love with it ^^

Please try out my game and let me know what you think .

Hehe nice game ^^ Think what i liked most about the game is actually the narrative. Comic book storytelling. Found it really fun and immersive, adding to the gameplay feel. I like the simple visuals.

Some constructive feedback:

  • The controls i found  to be pretty good. But little less smoothing so more friction would be better so the character slows down a bit faster, and the camera panning more towards the direction would help somewhat to see where you are moving towards.
  • The music was good, but became very repetitive and annoying after a while. Think something lighter might have worked better for your game. Then maybe for the end use this type of dramatic music.
  • My biggest issue with the game were the enemies. They shoot when you enter a certain range, which is usually almost within the jumping range, making it hard to time your jumps and kill them. Sometimes they'll shoot right when you land etc...Think it would be a lot better if they start shooting as soon as they enter on screen.

Anyways, good job on the game ^^

Please have a try at my game too.  Would love to hear your feedback  :)

Nice puzzle game ^^ Easy at the beginning but really progresses to become harder. Simple but nice visuals.

If any constructive feedback, it would be to use different audio.

Anyways good job ^^ Thanks for trying out my game too earlier

Haha, it is indeed somewhat similar to my game with the play & rewind boxes ^^ Liked playing it. Bit unforgiving sometimes but it's manageable without raging hehe.

I like the simple visuals for this type of game and the audio fits perfectly :)

Good job :) Thanks for coming to try out my game too before ^^

Hehe, untill Friday morning, the day before the deadline, i had the game built in such a way that only the terrain moves and the player doesn't. Was pretty crazy to watch. Problem is that on Friday i ran into a big bug where the player would get stuck on a wall and wouldn't slide off it. It had to do with how Unity handles physics and that i used Transform.Translate() for the grid terrain.

So after trying out so many other things to make it work, nothing did and i quickly had to rewrite a few things haha :D

I agree that it could use some more level progression. Thanks for your feedback ^^ I'll come and try out your game later today

Thank you for your feedback ^^ Yes, seems there's a bug with it. Restart was just one of those things i wanted to add but ran out of time to do :) Later today i'll come and try out your game too :) Thanks

Thank you for your feedback ^^ Yes, think the main improvement would be to make the jumping easier and smoother on the player; less jump delay, bit more time ungrounded etc hehe :) Thx for playing!

Played, commented and rated. Please try mine out too :) https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-4/rate/723589

I liked it. Think it had a good balance in speed and the amount of enemies. Sometimes i died but i didn't really know why. The incoming projectile could maybe be made more apparent somehow.  I probably don't notice it very well because there's so many visual things happening when you kill a mob.

Anyways good job :) Would like to try and learn making one of these myself now ^^

Enjoyable game. Felt like i was in Toy Story for a few minutes.

Only thing i was really struggling with were the camera controls. I would have liked to inverse them but it's more of a personal preference i think.

Good job ^^ Would have loved more parcours challenges :)

Played, commented & rated ^^

Nice implementation of the rewind mechanic. I loved the audio. Combined with the visuals really added that arcade feel towards it. Also good level progression.

2 constructive feedbacks:

  • Ran into a little bug where i would jump into a wall, the character changes direction, but on landing it hits and another wall and gets stuck running into the wall instead of switching direction again.
  • In one of the levels i felt a bit cheated as a player because i was winning, but because i apparently jumped over the flag it didn't count. In that level i would make the flag collider box a little bit bigger.

This is also my first game jam so it's nice to see entries like this. I wouldn't know how to do a replay mechanic like that just yet. What software do you use and how long have you been game devving?

Please take the time to try my game too ^^ Thank you!

Really well crafted game :) The atmosphere of the game fitted the gameplay perfectly. The puzzles felt geniously designed. The difficulty progression was really good.

The narrative added to the immersion but i didn't really feel it fit into the game. But it did add to the mellow vibe and kind of helps you relax your mind before the difficult puzzles lol.

Nice visuals too. Just all in all a good game mate :) Good job!

Thank you for your feedback ^^ Not planning on polishing this game but it was a really good experience. Learnt lots of things and managed to put some theory to practice and bring it all together. Gonna give yours a try.

Hehe :) Now i managed to pass it.

Didn't really bring the cloud with me the first try so i felt kinda frustrated that further in the level i didn't have one. So maybe an improvement would be to add another one in the second section. Also because dragging it along that far is kinda tedious.

While i was thinking about that, i thought a more interesting version of an indestructable cloud could be something that you can use once or twice before it pops. But only if it's not too hard.

In the third level one of the spikes is maybe just a tad too close to the buildings maybe. Would feel more rewarding if there was just a ittle bit more margin.

But anyways good job on the game mate ^^ Keep jamming!

Thank you for your feedback ^^

Can you explain more in detail what happened that you got softlocked?

Yes, totally agree. Like Brackeys mentioned, playtesting is important and i barely did because my gf never had time for it. Will keep that in mind for the future and maybe ask the community to help me playtest so i don't have to rely on her for it.  Thank you for your valuable feedback ^^

Thank you for your feedback ^^

Haven't been stuck on that one yet myself but i have had it happen on another location in the level which i ended up redesigning because of that reason. It was a bit different but maybe it is the same bug. Will try and find what causes it.

I agree that adding in more control for the player would be better. But being very novice in all this and due to time restrictions, i had to make tough decisions. Feature creep is real hehe.

Played, commented & rated ^^ Think it actually has potential for a commercial game :) Please take the time to try mine and let me know what you think.

Thought the game was really nice but i didn't manage to get very far. Tried a lot of times though.

I keep getting stuck at the same point where it shoots a projectile. I'm always just too slow to pass that point. I even tried lowering the balloon more, so maybe it would have more velocity shooting up, but didn't seem to help. Not sure what i'm doing wrong in that part of how to get passed it.

I really fell in love with the visuals and especially the audio. The blow effect and that music is so so good. Almost brought me back to those childhool feelings i got playing games like "Donkey Kong Country".

Nice game ^^ Wish i managed to see more of it.

Please have a try at my game and let me know what you think :)

Yes, noticed in the comments noone else was experiencing this. I use 7-zip for software which normally handles everything i throw at it hehe. I tried downloading it 3x. I'll see if i can use some converter ^^
