Very beautiful, very powerful

Hi Radu!

Your game looks very nice, it's visually pleasing. I understand you did this all yourself? Great job! I liked how it was easy to distinguish which islands you have visited and which ones you haven't.

The feel of the game was nice once you've gotten the hang of the mechanics. The latter is the largest issue I have with it though. The immediate double jump doesn't feel very intuitive. In most games a double jump is used to get extra height, either at the apex of your jump or once you see that you won't be able to reach it. Having to press space again immediately after having pressed jump feels very weird. Also it's not explained in the game. I don't feel a game should ever rely on external resources to teach you how it works, unless it's a boardgame.

Besides that, the teleportation thing didn't work well in my opinion. Sure it worked well, if you'd get the center orb as last, but if you'd pick it up later you would have too much momentum left from your jump and you would quickly die in the second level. I think this could be circumvented by placing the players on the starting platform again. Even if they are holding down keys if they see the starting area they are already familiar with they know they can stop holding down the button, reorient themselves, and then jump into the thick of it again.

Also, since your game is placed in a void with no underground or anything, sometimes it was very unclear which platforms you could jump to, this was less a problem in the second level, but it was especially frustrating in the second level.

Overall your game was good!

Hi Luca! I liked your game eventhough I didn't manage to complete it, no clue how you did it in 24 seconds though. I felt like I was pretty fast but around the 24 s mark I only was halfway throught he tower.
Overall I liked your game. You could have explained the double jump feature a bit better. The first block that's supposed to teach you feels a bit too close by, at first I thought that I just didn't time my movement well enough, unless I pressed space another time to see if there was a double jump. Something I did, only because I have a lot of experience with double jump mechanics. Someone who has no experience with platformers may have a lot more trouble with it than me.

Besides that the only other problem that I had was that it was very hard to get on that single small floating platform after the tunnel, and the few times that I did get up on there I didn't know how to continue onward. This might be communicated better.

All in all, I really liked the feel of your game. The character seemed to fly onward more than I'd expect at times, I got used to it quickly. You placed your platforms well in general. It never felt like I had to wait for my dash to return, If I had to use my dash I usually had to jump onto another platform without my dash before doing a jump with da dash. I think you did this really well!

Hi Sophie, I liked your spiral design, it was a creative way of getting to the end. I just thought I was a dummy and took a detour, until reading Alan's comment, I didn't actually know that you were supposed to take that path and then jump down. I just did it because it seemed like the natural thing to do.
I agree with what Alan said, it could be signaled a bit better that you're supposed to go up to the top first and then drop down and then go further up to get to the finish. However it was very clear what the end goal was from the start.
About platform size, they were tricky at times, I only fell down once but I didn't think they were too hard. A lot of times I wasn't sure if I could make the jump so it felt like a tiny victory everytime I did unexpectedly succeed. Overall nice job!

Hi Hidde, your game looks great! The car feels really nice to control, it's very intuitive. The map looks great, it doesn't feel too long, although it starts to feel kind of same-y after a short bit. I would maybe have placed the bridge about halfway through the level? The only real gripes that I have with this is that the bridge flipped my car into the ravine while it didn't feel like I was going too fast for it or anything, that might be weird hitboxes/angles? Besides that the countdown timer got stuck at 0.01 in my face.
You did a really great job!

So, this is very impressive, it seems like you put a lot of time and effort into it. It's mostly very well made. What kind of killed the fun for me was that it asks you to "try again" when you fail. You are then not allowed to try it again unless you re-install it, and then it's still physically impossible to complete. I speedran this, had a time of 31 seconds and I still lost. Also, I've got to say, the camera movement/bobbing was a bit grating. Besides that, really great game, and like Atilla said, you've easily beat all of us here, haha.

Liked the colours

Hi Wesley,
While at some points, the speed + jumping combination felt very satisfying, there were a lot of cases in the second level, where I felt like the angle + speed + timing of the jump had to be a bit too precise. Overall I thought it was a fine game. I liked the timer at the top, it was a shame that my completion time of level 2 wasn't shown on the top left.
