I got this pretty op build. It only had difficulties after the 3rd boss which it killed in 2 or 3 turns and the 1st endless boss.

How it worked:

  1. The first turn, I had 18 mana to use on the wand that did 20 damage (1base, +8 mana stones, +5 from forge, +5 tusk, +1 diamond)
  2. Every hit would increase the damage on the gold shiv by 3 for that turn.
  3. The gold from the shiv was saved for emergencies where I could use the orksork ax
  4. After the 1st turn, the whetstone created 2 mana for 1 energy, and I could use the shield as well to block.

Oh no! Someone discovered my true plans for the final boss! Anyways, I've got a version ready that doesn't lag as much for an update after the jam.

Thanks! Just in case you were wondering, I fixed the lag issue and will update the game after the jam. Music s on my to-do list!

Looks amazing! Can't wait to see some story and possibly puzzles come out of this come out of this!

Thanks! The forks should do damage however far you are. My idea was that you would have to put one right behind a spoon,  but I’m reality you can’t consistently do it fast enough

Edit: yes I also thought of him about halfway through.

I like all the ideas behind the game. However, I think you need to start a little smaller. A lot of small things were missed such as the player not falling when walking into a wall, making it hard to tell if you missed a jump or not.  With a little extra development, this could defiantly be a great game

I would love to get feedback. (Warning the game has tons of lag, so sorry. I’ll try optimizing after voting ends) https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-7/rate/1420123

I made a game about throwing silverware at Egyptian gods! https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-7/rate/1420123

They do despawn. I saw something that said I might fix it by just hiding and disabling them. I think most of the lag is from the bullets constantly monitoring if something enters their hitbox.

I hope you enjoy throwing silverware at Egyptian gods. Rate Legend of the SPORFE by Umbooka for Brackeys Game Jam 2022.1 - itch.io

It shoots at your mouse. Sorry I forgot to put that in the tutorial.

Cool concept. If you were to improve it, I would make it so that the play kept facing the last way he moved. This would make the combat a little less annoying.

Thanks. Yes, I think the lag is with the projectiles too. I’ve been looking into ways to fix them, but won’t be updating until after the voting is over so that everything is fair. The other things you suggested were just the result of my procrastination and running out of time.

I don’t want to change anything in my game, I just want to make it lag a little less so it is more playable. Can I do that or is that against the rules?

Thanks. Though I only made the characters and silverware. The tiles set is just a recolored free one and the hearts are also someone elses.

I like the visuals, but I think the camera needs to be forward more. I couldn't see the enemies until they hit me. Also, if you land on an enemy, you can't get off and it is a death sentence. Mabey that could be fixed with something like a round collision shape.

My game, Legend of the Sporfe, only has 5 ratings. I made a game about throwing silverware at Egyptian gods. I will rate whoever comments and rates my game.

Lol. I ran out of time. Somehow, I think playing real games all week and procrastinating wasn't the best decision.

Such a great game. If you wanted to work on it after the jam, maybe you could have the titans actually say something after you beat the game. Also, I never thought of the jam to mean denial. Great idea!

I agree with the tutorial problem. I think you should reply to this comment or edit the description with how to kill enemies. This would just lessen future comments about this.

Really? I mean you can technically just skip the whole game since I didn't even get to adding doors on the rooms.

Great mechanic. An idea I had for you was to just remove the jump button. It's not really used and the same thing and be done with the changing gravity, just making it so that the player really needs to master the gravity. Other than that, it was fun trying to combat the acceleration in both directions.

I like the idea; however, I feel that you need to add a way that the game gets harder. As it is, I just kept placing coins in the corners opposite of each other. Maybe you could make the play have to juggle between several coins and have to pick them up instead of just clicking where they want them to go.

Thanks. Ya, I know about the frame rate drop. I ran out of time trying to figure out how to fix it.

Thanks. Though I only made the characters and silverware. The tiles set is just a recolored free one and the hearts are also someone elses.

Wow. Way more polished than mine. I procrastinated so much that I didn't even have time to add sound.

If you want to sure. Legend of the SPORFE by Umbooka (itch.io). Feel free to make jokes about it. (I can't really make a game about throwing silverwhere at Egyptian gods and be mad if someone makes fun of the game)

I have stayed up way too late to finish this. I probably shouldn't have procrastinated during the week so much. Hope yall enjoy my game even though it is awful.

Ok. I thought that you already knew that with the gods in the screenshot. Sorry.

I'll try that. Although, I've been looking up Egyptian color pallets and they are all pretty similar to what I have.

This is my first game jam. I am making a top-down shooter about finding the legendary SPORFE (a combination of a fork, knife and spoon). This is my project so far. I made the characters and silverware but recolored the 16x16 DungeonTileset II for the room. How do you think I am doing so far (I can't really tell since it's my first real game)?

I love this game. I've spent several hours on it. The only suggestion I have is to add the ability to target specific enemies. It can be quite frustrating to have to wait until you go through two tanky enemies to take out a support monster.
