How does you game fit the theme?
1. Dreams arent real
2. *Spoiler Warning* The Ending( The Dog was never real, it was the protagonists imaginary pet )
3. *Spoiler Warning* The Ending , again ( He is also dead, which means he is a ghost and ghosts dont exist in real life)

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
I wrote all the code by myself, some of the Assets in the city were free online assets : www.kenney.nl (rogue like city) and i used the encounter sound from undertale but it sometimes glitches out

Cool game. I really like all of the genre blending you have. I also liked the Undertale styled fight with Hermes. Good job. :)

Cool style, I like how the dream world is mario-like and a 2d sideview instead of top down. Did you make the music? If so; it rocks!

Small feedback:

  • the text scrolling was a bit slow for my taste, I felt compelled to skip dialogue because of it
  • the platform mechanics were a bit clunky, collecting 89 coins felt like too much

Great work!

Played and rated! Well done.

Decent game! i like the way you did the dream jumps for the theme
though i kinda gave up on the undertale section as they attacks went on for far too long and were nearly impossible to dodge

This was a pretty weird experience if I'm being honest... The music was kinda annoying... The minigames were tedious, I've never played undertale and I don't understand how you're supposed to get through that stage? I read that you should get to 100% mercy? But I only gained 1% per mini challenge... No way I'm playing 100 times... And was the attack button working? I clicked space so many times and nothing happened. The platformer was also weird, somehow the y value of the player wouldn't change if I was touching a wall. The dialogue also needs some improvement, 1 click should reveal the whole text, while the 2nd click should then go to the next dialogue. The artstyle was also not for me, the player looked funny tho. Overall, I'm sorry to say but it was not that good.

Don't take this the wrong way tho... There is definitely room for improvement and I'm just here to try and give an honest review, hope it helps, and I'm sure you can do far better in the future!

Hi! Thanks for your feedback! I eded up having not enough time for a volume slider for music and sound and in the undertale part youve probaly used convince, right? Its the only rng act of them 4 and they can give you 1% or up to 7%, so you just got unlucky. The Fight Button does work, maybe i didnt explained it too well but you have to press space to stop the slider. You deal the most damage in the middle and least in the corners. The plattformer dream did had an bug, where you would get stuck on the wall, but you can fall again when you stop press a or d. With the artstyle I did included 2 different ones, but they were on the first 2 the same as the undertale look was pixelart and i didnt wanted to change that.

Thanks for showing me some of the negative aspects of the game, as most of them didnt got mentioned from other people.

Absolutely love the concept.
Nicework :)

you are the 23rd most rated game in the game jam. I am 22

not a bad game, your character seemed to stick to the side of the platforms making jumps more difficult than is should have been. also i could walk through everything on the big map.

I have always wanted to make a game that is a mix of a bunch of genres but I still have not gotten around to doing it! Its pretty good my main problem just like everyone else said in the comments is that the character sticks to walls in the platforming bit which makes it super frustrating. But it makes sense for a game made in 7 days to have some problems. Overall I like game.

If you have the chance it would be great if you could review my game,

I agree with the reviews before, i think the biggest problem that should be easy to fix is the character sticking to the walls, it makes the platforming way less fun and harder

Developer

Thanks for ur feedback! I didnt knew back then how to fix it and i thought that this might make some jumps easier too, so i left it in.

If you guys are intrested I can make a devlog for some of my game design choices! I always wanted to try it out, but im not sure if its appropiate for this game

The game feels super harsh and janky,

the platforming gets stuck on walls and edges which doesn't feel super nice, the undertale segment is also extremely difficult(Maybe I'm just bad😂)

I like the amount of content and effort in the game, and the art is actually cool (even though the walk animation gives me nice laugh😂)

the dialogue animation is slow so I'd like to be able to skip the animation but not the entire dialogue.

But the concept is really cool and the game is nice,

Developer

Thanks for your feedback! I might consider adding the dialogue feature, incase i choose to continue working on the game

The game is a bit difficult to handle. The platform area was a bit off, I think your best option is to move friction off the walls so the the player no longer sticks to them. The undertale part was also pretty hard to do, although I've never played that game so I have no experiance in those sort of mechanics, I might just be bad. Also there are a few typos, in the text.

I did like the concept and the approach on story telling, I think you were going in the right direction.

i like the amount of efforts and contents you put in this game. It's unavoidable that game balance and controls are out of place with this much of work in just 1 week. Great work!

I agree with others that the platformer control is quite awkward. Also the Undertale part I was moving my heart to the corner to minimize the damage because it is quite impossible for me to dodge the obstacles (the damage was higher if I try to dodge). You may want to adjust the colliders to make them less punishing.

Also a bug: My heart is invisible (only visible for 1s when I take damage) lol, it's like in hardcore mode

Overall quite nice, it would be better to not just implement existing games' mechanics but try to fuse them together to form new levels.

Developer

Thanks for your feedback! I might consider doing it if i decide to continue the game

The game feels odd and clunky to play. The platforming first stage has a lot inertia on the character, and jumps feel too tight or go nowhere. The undertale-style battle was too long and difficult for me to complete. The dialogue is too slow, and the controls are a bit unintuitive. Overall, the game could be polished and improved a bit. But still, pretty good game!

Thanks for your feedback! I agree with most of your critism. I originally thought the difficulty of the game was okay, since i would normally first try the fight

Great game. I had fun. Coin level was a lot of fun. You can remove the bug where the player is sticking to the wall/side of the platforms by adding a Platform Effector 2D in Unity. I think that would help with the gameplay.

Would love for you to give your thoughts on our game as well :D

Developer

Thanks for your feedback! I think i actually have an effector on the tile map

I overall like your game. Great Interpretation of the theme. I liked that you can  play "different" games. This matches the Idea of a dream really good. But i dindt liked that I get on the platformer Part on every Wall stuck.

Developer

Thanks for your feedback! I didnt knew back then how to fix it and it also made some jumps easier so i decided to keep it

I like the idea, and the game is quite fun
