Thank you for your detailed feedback! I had to fly out a couple days before the end of the jam so the ending was rather sudden.
Unfortunately my monitor seems to display colors a lot brighter then they are which led to me thinking that they would be correct. When I played the game on another device, it looked way too dark to play! That will need to be changed.
I agree with the level design part - it was my first shot making a somewhat larger world and while I do think there is a sense of scale conveyed, a few parts of the world just feel empty.
Those were boots! After playing through, they don't seem to destroy themselves when they are obtained. But they give the player a permanent speed boost.
I played the game and wow - just as I thought I was at the end, you managed to have even more gameplay! It took me about 30 minutes to beat it.
I love the music - the art is nice as well. The movement though is probably the thing I like the most - it feels very fluid and the confine mode feels great. (Also quite fun with 3 clones and holding down LMB. Makes it a contest of seeing if I can lag out my PC!)
I did encounter a couple bugs later in the game, around wave 15.
For some reason after I got the skip-basic-demon item sometime around that wave, the next two waves just didn't spawn. I went into confine mode on wave 17 - 18 and then they seemed to instantiate a dozen or so seconds later.
I also found a demon-guy who went out of bounds on one of the teen waves near the top-side of the map! But, I was able to kill him by changing my angle weirdly enough - even though he was outside the wall.
I downloaded the game and had a bit of fun with it! I think that the text boxes are a bit too slow however and could at least be sped up by 1.5x.
I wasn't able to beat the first monster-boss guy though. Strangely I really like the player's attacks - but I ran out of attacks I think? I couldn't shoot anymore and the enemy just kept attacking me, but I didn't ever seem to lose health.
I think the UI could use some improvements - indicate your health and the enemies health, and make it clearer how to transition between attacks. (I think that's what the whole bubble-thing row near the bottom is! I couldn't figure how to switch between them - I tried using numbers.)
