I've played all the games at this jam and I think you made the best one. In terms of graphics and gameplay. I realize it's core mechanics, but the pumpkins clamp down the player, keeping him out and the flashlight battery is dying. You need to make a slow recharge of the battery. And make it so that the pumpkins don't stay in the entrance when they can't reach the player, but go to random places. That would be better. But that's just wishful thinking. The game itself is good anyway.
I don't think you did all the assets yourself in such a short time. The camera can't move in time with the character. I didn't understand the goal of the game. The game looks like a test of unusual mechanics. I like the style of the game. I would suggest to reduce the number of curbs. Add hp to the character instead of one life. Add some goals to make the player feel progress, make the game more linear and then the mechanics will kick in.
Navigation is terrible (or buggy). I found 2 keys and one note, but couldn't find anything further. The game doesn't let me go upstairs. Screamers are unnecessary. Couldn't get through the game completely. But the style and the attempt to make something interesting in such a short time is respectable. Nice try for a first jam.
You refer to Wikipedia and say that the Holodomor was widely accepted as a result of Stalin's policies. But it was accepted by capitalists to fool people. To scare people who don't know the truth. They destroyed an already weak economy and filled the fields with mines and chemicals. There was a severe famine in Cambodia. Plus Cambodia had great internal conflict between the rich cities and the poor countryside.

Or another example, you built a house. There are 100 apartments in it. You sold 50 apartments, and 50 apartments are left empty. There are 1,000 families in your town who need their own place to live, but they don't have enough money. Will you donate the remaining 50 apartments to the needy in an act of humanism?
Let me put it this way, it's not even about you, whether you're a fair person or not. The capitalist system is set up so that the hungry don't get food, even if there is food. The homeless live on the street, even if there are empty apartments. And workers can't find work even if they want to work.
