Hi @Milk2bad, that's a reasonable ask, I've been trying to add new body colors but those assets have a fundamental problem, the shadows are combined with the hairs which means the body color cannot be too different.

About eyes, I am thinking about adding since it's not too much work.

About hair, clothes and accessories that's something I can consider if the app receives more donations, otherwise I will be focusing in new apps.

The Character Creator - Tainara-P received a new update that might help you achieve the different races, the assets are not fully compatible with the Sutemo ones without resizing but might give you some new assets, you can try that.

I will think about the request and see what I can do.

Thank you so much for the message. And have a happy new year!!

Hi @quibski! I just released a new version 0.5.0 adding support to custom assets.

What do you think?

Yes! That's an excellent idea, let me see if I can figure out a simple way to do that. The main challenge would be the hats or accessories because some times the order should change.

Some hats have the back part and some necklaces should be under the shirt and other over the shirt.

I will see what I can do, thank you so much for your comments!

Hi @quibski thank you for the suggestion, I really wanted to!

But they specifically state that: "you cannot resell the sprite on its own, as part of a pack, or as an included item in a character creator".

So unfortunately I cannot do it.

I am glad you like it! I am planing more updates next year.

Thank you for your message!

Whoa, I didn't know that! In that case we don't need that many features.

>Something like a “connect to itch/login with itch” screen would be great.
Exactly, if there was a way to login using the same session, and having access to username would be perfect!

I know you said that, I am sorry if my English is not good enough, I am not a native speaker.

My question is: Why do you think the only way to enable this feature is "implementing a whole bunch of features and overhauling the framework, so the features offered are clicking together and have a robust concept and ecosystem around them", instead of one of the solutions suggested by @leafo? Or even adding an Oauth authentication.

Currently, usernames could be acquired by brute-force, or one could also scrape the website searching for public usernames.

Please, help me to understand technically why this is a "security nightmare"?

Right, let's go back to what you mentioned. What do you consider a solution?

If the simple approach is not enough for you what do you suggest to make this feature possible?

I still think it's not as concerning as you want us to believe otherwise other websites with social features wouldn't do it.

For me, having oauth is overkill in this case but would that address your concerns?

Ok, I think I understand your point now, there is a comment talking about profile information that probably make you concerned but that's not the intention of the original comment.

What is being asked is to know who is playing your game if this person is logged in, and that's all. This information is public (if the person decides to publish something).

Personally, I think it's a reasonable request and can cause more good than harm.

About the implementation, instead of a opt-in, itch.io could simply warn users that the username is public. And because is possible to change your username, if someone wants to change before this new feature is released, they could simply change their username. What is the point of the username anyways? Display it publicly right?

I think you are missing the point.

First of all, you can rate content, create comments, follow users, create dev logs, create comments for dev logs. I don't know what features YOU need to call it a social network, but itch.io is a social network.

Secondly, no one is asking for multiplayer or any other new feature (other than maybe an opt-in), what I see here is people asking to make possible for apps to access an information that already exists (and is public).

I still don't understand your argument about how making the public usernames easily accessible would be a security concern.

I am not sure if you just want to be against this proposal or you have a real concern, if is the latter, what do you recommend? Oauth? Each game to implement a secondary login on top of itch.io? What would be the safest way to do it?

Hi @redonihunter,

Answering your question:

"Where is this?"

Every time someone makes a comment, the username is displayed, I don't see how enabling access to the usernames can make it too much worse.

About what you mentioned:

I think you are saying that if the user never interacts in the platform, they don't have the username exposed, right? But I am not sure if I agree that exposing those could be a security concern.

You mentioned the usernames are accessible via cookies, if the apps can access that information I think this is even more concerning in terms of security, right? Also, cookies can be manipulated so you cannot rely on the information there, users can potentially modify any content there.

And finally, you mentioned that itch.io is not "this type of social network", I disagree. Yes, itch.io don't have all the features other social networks have but I think is implicit that any interaction you have will expose your username. Like creating a comment on this post, creating a devlog or publishing a game.

Itch.io doesn't have any authentication so there is no way around it. I would like to have this feature, I think it can be really useful not only for high scores but to learn more about the players.

Hey @owenmiel, not exactly what you asked for but I created this tool to help with the process. So you don't need to use any image editor software.

Is it possible to run this script from the command line?

I want to try later, looks great!

Ok!! Vou colocar um link. Muito obrigado!!

E Uau!

Oh, I see! I think in that case the donation was made without a username, then.

Thank you so much, I couldn't find this information anywhere.

I had a donation recently made to one of my games and would like to know the username of who made the donation, is it possible?

I checked the API and I couldn't find any API that could help me to map the email to the username.

Hey Adam, thank you so much for taking time to trying and giving feedback. I am sorry to hear that it didn't work. I will work on that after voting season.

Yeah, I think it was too ambitious for a Game Jam,  haha.

Yay!!! Happy to know that it worked! I will update the instructions later today.

😂

Oops, maybe the game is too hard? I tried to tweaked last minute but maybe I practiced too much while coding it? Thanks for the feedback!!

Hey @tafode, I am sorry to hear that. I feel I should spend some more time in the motion control, I will probably do this when the voting ends.

Thank you so much for the feedback and let me know if you can make it work.

The ideal distance from the camera is over 1 meter. Ideally, the camera should me able to see your head and hand.

The pose to start the game should be something similar to this.

Thank you! I am glad you enjoyed the game!

Yes, this feature would be really nice to have.

Thanks so much for clarifying, hope you have a nice day!

Hello! Your assets are really well-made, you did and awesome job!

I curious about the license, can you please explain what is an "IA project"?

You mean feeding a generative AI model, right?

Is that ok if the game uses AI for the enemies' behavior?

Is that ok if I use generative AI to help me develop the game, like generating code, or dialogs, or even the story?

Is that ok if I use other assets generated by AI?

I am sorry for asking this much questions, that's the first time I see such a license, it's very new to me.

Thanks for the words @JamesTKhan! To be honest, I was really frustrated with the overall visuals, so is really comforting reading your message. The desktop and html versions look much better but in order to make it run smoother on Oculus I had to heavily downgrade the graphics.

Thanks for the help during the Jam!

Thanks, @evilenity! Yeah, I almost regret trying to make a VR game in the middle of the Jam, I am glad I tried. And yes, regarding the rendering issues, unfortunately, I had to cut a lot of assets and effects from the game including the skybox so it could run smoother on Oculus this was the best I could achieve. I tried to polish the mechanics as much as I could (it was the first feature I implemented and the last thing I tweaked).

This game is perfect for you if you enjoy fast-action games like me, with a lots of fatalities and cowabangas I spend a good time playing. The funny intro is a huge plus.

Glad to hear that. I had great times doing this game.

An usual laundry day, Anne Beth wakes up at morning, the sun is still shinning, clothes are all around the house. Her mission? Wash her clothes. Unless something unexpected happens. What can be wrong?

Help Anne Beth in this point and click strongly inspired on classics.

This game was made during LibGDX Jam that ended today, hope you like it!
