Thanks for the kind words! 😊

I chose to interpret the theme as an infinite maze with no 'finish line'. Endlessly navigating through twists and turns, encountering strange phenomena along the way, with no clear conclusion in sight.

The blaster is there to add a false sense of security. The only 'exit' is death, but if you have a good flow going, you might be able to keep oxygen up indefinitely. The asset pack is pretty large, but it was hard to 'design' a lot of clutter.

Edit: Actually I'm using Sci-Fi Space, which is less huge. I accidentally wrote the wrong pack.

Damn, this is a good one.

Added some door signs. Just for you.

Thanks for playing and the kind words. I used a completely black, unlit shader on some stuff to hopefully help create a creepy atmosphere.

I really liked the face in the dark effect.

Was totally waiting for David S. Pumpkins 😆

Sounds like you DID find a way out! 😆

Thanks for checking out my submission for Synty Spooky Jam 2024.

  • No jump scares, so don’t worry about those.
  • The game works with both controllers and keyboard + mouse, but I don’t really recommend one over the other.
  • Please play with audio on.

Assets Used:

  • Tessera Pro by Boris the Brave from the Unity store for wave function collapse procedural generation
  • Sci-Fi Space Pack by Synty Studios
  • Audio from Owani Sound and Ambiences Sounds Vol.1 from GameDevMarket

Game Concept & Development This game draws inspiration from Dead SpaceSilent Hill, and The Backrooms. My main motivation was to try out Tessera WFC, which took some time to get working for infinite generation. I learned a lot from this process, and next time I’d probably use a different tile-based approach with Tessera.

The game isn’t deterministic, so each playthrough will be different. Survival time will vary, and you might get stuck and need to restart.

I built this on Unity’s FPS tutorial template but stripped a lot out. The jam was 10 days, but I didn’t have much time to spare, so getting a proper gameplay loop with Tessera’s limitations was a challenge.

If you use a rigidbody, you can freeze the y axis. That is what we ended up doing due to buggy colliders 😆

Hints: The park is to the north. The arcade is straight to the right from the starting point, try walking through the door. There is a path through the woods.

Fell in a hole when exploring right before the finish line.

I really like the camera movement. How did you do the camera?

Yeah. The arcade is the building to the right from the start. Did not properly indicate the arcade and the entrance. Thanks for trying though XD

The music is such a perfect match. Elegant presentation.

You did it! A perfectly playable game. I was thinking of making something similar, but had a feeling designing the puzzles could take forever. For some reason I had to press space a bunch of times to create the CONNECTION™.

Those art asset are sweet. The gameplay felt smooth. Could not figure out how to progress. Got double jump and sword, but that was it. Were we supposed to be able to make the double jump just to the right where we pick it up? Actually, never mind, I managed to miss a section. Those bats, though.

Surprisingly satisfying to shoot the zombies.

I have no idea why it did not occur to me to just reset current level on death...

Loved the board game concept! Made it through on the first try. Did not feel like there was much strategy involved. With more blocks, more cards, and more players this could be really cool.

So broken!

Probably my favorite of the submissions. That last level was hard!
