Game Collabs!

Hey, Itch!

One of the great aspects of the creative world is the ease of collaboration over the ever-expanding internet. The independent games market is clearly growing with talented individuals who can make a very well rounded game, as Itch shows. However, more often then not, people will have one skill that shines above the rest, and these people, even if they can make a game on their own, will often want to work with teams of people who have different skillsets.

This results in, you guessed it, game collaborations! To my knowledge, Itch does not have any way to publish games under the names of multiple people. This makes things tricky.

It'd be great to have the ability to release a game and have multiple profiles linked to that same game. To further build off of this, it could eventually be implemented where revenues could easily be split amongst these team members, and profiles could be customized to advertise what specific traits they have to offer to other teams.

Networking is huge in today's day and age, and I think this would go a long way in creating unique games and building strong relationships throughout the Itch community.

Just some food for thought.

Best wishes!

Hey, I talked about similar concerns in my post here: "Team" Accounts/Managing Multiple Accounts and someone else here: More control over user profile pages. Perhaps not exactly the same as what you're looking for, but similar use cases.

Along the lines of this, I think it would be good if people could have some indication on their profile for whether they are open for collaborations or will accept requests for art or music etc. I don't think it would need to be too extensive, just enough that it could help developers identify people that they can talk to outside of it itchio in regards to development. Something to help devs get the collaborative ball rolling.

Itch already allows to add admins and mark them as contributors. All We need is a way to link to the game from your profile page.

Sometime later...wondering if it was ever implemented to let us have our profile page include the games we collaborated on?  I cant seem to find any option as of yet?

You can create a collection of games on other accounts you've worked on, then display that collection on your profile. Other than that I can't really see any other way.

Thanks for your suggestion :) at least I've got the collaboration on my profile now!

It's only annoying that we can't choose where it's placed and have it at the top of our pages.

Yeah more profile customisation would be nice, I put all my games into collections and don't display games normally so it feels more consistent.

Oh yeah. Why didn't I think just to put then all in collections...

My only (somewhat) decent game is a collab. I'd like to have it on my profile... Does anyone know if this is ever going to happen. :(

You can go to Edit Theme on your profile, and uncheck Hide in Project display order. It should display your projects on your profile, if you are admin too.
