Hi!
Please feel free to post your requests in this thread!
Can't find a pack you need? Make a request here! · By
I bought two of your GUIs, which look lovely, but I can't really use much of them, because the GUI screens on Renpy are rather different than the ones for Tyrano Builder. Do you think you could adapt, or make new ones, with Renpy in mind? It would be basically adding bars instead of dots, and the "Options" screen has slightly different labels.
Thank you so much in advance!
I see! I've downloaded some sample GUI packs for Renpy and now, I'm learning, how it all works. It's really different from TyranoBuilder. I'll keep you updated on the progress. Hopefully, it won't take too much time!
By the way, a long time ago (half a year or something), I've played your game "Blood and Lust"! It was great. I hope to play your other games in the future, as well! Your drawing skills are really impressive, I wish I could draw such beautiful sprites! *-*
Hi!
I'm attaching a download key for the beta version of the RenPy Dark Pink GUI Pack.
https://rachelchen.itch.io/dark-pink-visual-novel-gui-text-interface-buttons-and...
I'm sorry it took so long! I had to learn how this type of GUI looks like. It is very different from the one used in TyranoBuilder. This version looks a bit different than what you've bought, because, I had to remake some buttons (I fixed backgrounds as well). Please let me know if it works, and if yes, I'll proceed to create the RenPy version of the Royal Blue GUI Pack.
Have a great Sunday!
Rachel
Hi Rachel,
I recently launched a new visual novel engine, https://talefab.com/, and I'd like to add a media repository to it. Therefore I'm in search for backgrounds, GUIs, etc. My question is: if I buy your packs, can I add them to this media repository?
I need to mention that users register and use the repository for free, and the created games are published inside the project (https://talefab.com/games/), therefore the repository's content is not distributed or sold to 3rd parties. This will be included in the Terms & Conditions also, and creators will be credited too (I know it's not required, but still).
You can find out more about the engine on it's itch page:
https://szabo-sandor-istvan.itch.io/talefab-visual-novel-engine
Hi, Sandor!
First of all, congratulations on your visual novel engine! It looks super awesome.
Regarding your inquiry, it's a complicated issue.
When you put graphical assets in your engine's files (or release them on your website), to let others use them creatively, this is sharing with third parties. Unfortunately, it can't be done with the single user's licence.
However, I can create graphical assets especially for your engine, and sell them to you with all rights. In this scenario, you could share these assets, as you'd be the sole owner of all rights to them.
Let me know if it's something you'd be interested in.
Rachel
That would be nice!
Can we get in touch for a chat?
You can find me on our FB Community Hub, let's discuss this further.
Hi, Devi!
Thank you for your message!
A long time ago, I have already created such a pack (click here to see it), however, it needs to be divided in half, because, backgrounds don't match each other (one is an old, grunge elementary school and the other, a beautiful modern college). I hope to divide this pack in a couple of days so that people can download only the part that they need. You may also want to check the art gallery pack, I think, some backgrounds would work too if your characters have art class or if you need some modern-looking corridor.
I'm hoping to release new school-related backgrounds soon, with a more modern-looking high school. Some of them will be made free after the requester's purchase, so, I will keep you updated about this. *^-^*
Rachel
Hi, thank you for your request!
I'm sorry to be responding so late, the past days were quite hectic.
As for the backgrounds, I have a couple of questions about the room: should it be a boy's room or a girl's room? A student's room or an adult's room? Do you have any specific expectations regarding colors? Should the room be cluttered and dark, or more minimalistic and bright? As for the corridor, you need something that works with the house pool area, yeah? Or something different? And as for the pool, you need a background with a simple, private, indoor pool, yeah? I had a photo somewhere, I'll look for it. In general though, it would be best if you could go on Unsplash.com or Pexels.com, find photos that work best for you, and send links to me.
Also, by TOD you mean time of the day, yeah?
Thank you,
Rachel
hey there, thank you for the reply..
As for the room, it will generic guest room that can go well with your other rooms in the packs I got - I am currently using your pack 9 and Tropical Resort packs as a home / house. As for the room decorations, clutter and such - I don't mind multiple rooms with varrying degrees of clutter and decorations as long as they all come with different Time of Day (yea on TOD). Morning, Afternoon, Evening - same as the ones in your pack 9
The corridors, yes, a corridor that leads to the pool area.
The pool area, I guess that can be ignored now since the pool area that came with your Tropical Resort pack is great and I like the feel of it.
There is an image included in the Tropical Resort pack, I believe its TropicalResort(8), can I also request an afternoon and evening version of it?
I'm gonna be raiding your packs again for something I need and will let you know if ever I will need more..
Hi Rachel, I'm looking for more of a specialized order. I've bought a few of your packs already, but I'm hoping I could talk to you directly about getting a few specific backgrounds made as a commission. Is there anyway to speak to you directly? You Twitter isn't allowing for direct messages, so this forum thread is all I have to go off of.
If you would be interested in setting something like this up, please reach out to me on Twitter at @neliobelmont. I'm also on Instagram @pixel_fusion_portraits, facebook @PixelFusionPortraits
Hi Rachel, love your work :) I was hoping to request a cyberpunk/futuristic city locations background pack - think neon lit bars, grungy alleyways, seedy nightclubs, megacorp offices, hyperloop stations, robot markets...that sort of thing. I'm looking to create a game and would need around 20 unique locations.
Many thanks!
Hi, Gabby!
Thank you for your message! Unfortunately, I'm not planning to make more RenPy conversions at this time. :( I have very little experience with this engine, I hoped to learn it, but now, I started working with an indie game studio, and as a result, I'm super busy. I'll keep you updated though, if anything changes!
I wish you much luck with your game projects!
Rachel
Hi, thank you so much for your purchase! ^-^
I was planning to make an amusement park pack for quite a while already, and here it is!
https://rachelchen.itch.io/amusement-park-pack-10-visual-novel-backgrounds
I’ll try to add a zoo pack in the upcoming days.
Good luck with your games!
Rachel
Hi Rachel, really like the style of your backgrounds. Between your packs, I have pretty much everything I need for my game, which is set in different rooms of a modern house.
The only thing I'm missing are exterior shots — curb view, front door, backyard of a modern house that matches the interior of the Modern Bedrooms and Contemporary Kitchens packs.
Is this something you could add?
Hi, thank you so much for your purchases! ^-^ Here are the neighborhood packs that I’ve made in the past two days, I think that the “Modern Neighborhood Pack” will be most suited to your needs. But I ’m sending the links to all three:
https://rachelchen.itch.io/modern-neighborhood-pack-8-visual-novel-backgrounds
https://rachelchen.itch.io/elegant-neighborhood-pack-14-visual-novel-backgrounds
https://rachelchen.itch.io/red-brick-neighborhood-pack-6-visual-novel-backgrounds
Hopefully they’ll be useful for you. Have a great weekend! Rachel
Hi Keruberus! I’m sorry for such a late response, I’ve been offline for quite a while. Thank you for your kind words! I remember, I made some backgrounds with restaurants and cafes, but they were scattered around different packs. I’m gathering the links for you:
Ice cream shop: https://rachelchen.itch.io/ice-cream-shop-mini-pack-4-visual-novel-backgrounds
Cafe, night bar restaurant, wedding restaurant: https://itch.io/queue/c/546327/rachel-chens-classical-visual-novel-backgrounds?game_id=558937
Cake display and cafe corner with seats: https://rachelchen.itch.io/exclusive-shopping-mall-pack-10-visual-novel-backgrounds
I hope to create new packs, though, and upload them soon. Thank you for your suggestion! Have a great weekend, Rachel
Hi 1LookGames, thank you for your request! I see what you mean with the perspective, good point. The School & College Pack is quite old actually, one of the first packs ever made. I’m hoping to create a new version, and will take these remarks into consideration. By the way, if you see this problem with other packs too, please let me know. I’ll see if I can make new versions. Have a great weekend! Rachel
Hi Anwynn, Thank you so much for your message! Providing photos when requesting backgrounds is optional. You can attach some as a reference, but it’s not necessary. What kind of beach backgrounds do you need? I don’t mind making more of these, the sea is one of my favorite themes! ^-^ Have a great week, Rachel
hi Rachel :)
something like this
and this
and this
i though also one that show beach cabin? is that the right word for those small house where you change into swimming clothes
maybe one that is close to the water too
i thought if they could have day/sunset , can those be found without people on it ? though one or two is not really a problem
theses are beach photos from my country i searched on internet :) i'm bad at searching things on internet there might be better ones
i like these breakwater :)
i hope it's not too difficult what i'm asking :)
thank you :)
Hi, thank you for asking about this. Unfortunately, my answer is a big NO, I can’t allow this type of use. My assets were created with the goal of becoming part of more complex creative projects (such as visual novels, digital comics, etc.), and not to be used as components for the creation of other people’s digital assets meant for further sale and distribution. This type of use not only shares parts of my work with third parties, but also serves competitive purposes. So no, I definitely can’t agree to it. Moreover, since the crypto market has its own rules regarding digital copies, I don’t agree for my assets (or any derivative works based on my assets) to be sold/traded/distributed there. You’ll have to look for another artist to help you with this request, I’m afraid. Sorry. Rachel
Hi Rachel! Thanks for your response. I understand if you thought I was trying to sell the backgrounds themselves as NFTs but let me give you an example of how they would be used. Our anime girls would be the main focal point and the background would be to complement them. I loved your backgrounds and thought they would be a great addition. It seemed like fair use as a commercial project and we would credit you too but if you're still not comfortable then we won't do it. Thanks Rachel!
Hi Anwynn! I finally made these backgrounds, sorry it took so long. I’ve added them to the original Picturesque Seaside Town Pack, so you can download them here: https://rachelchen.itch.io/picturesque-seaside-town-pack-14-visual-novel-backgrounds, the file is “RC_PicturesqueSeasideTown(OldVersion-Nights).rar” ; I chose not to add them to any new pack because, I feel that the originals are very old, and not that good. So, you’re getting the night versions of these, for free! Regarding the night versions of the revamped backgrounds, I started working on them, but they’re quite time consuming, and I didn’t want to keep you waiting more, if you only need the old ones. In any case, I’ll probably add them some day. Take care! -Rachel
Hi Rachel,
Absolutely love your assets! I am currently looking for a Tyranobuilder GUI that has a more underwater feel. I think your current sea GUI is gorgeous, but I am looking for something a bit darker with an underwater theme. My game is set in a magic academy on an island, but there is a lot of emphasis on the sea, especially underwater. I haven't brought any of your GUIs yet (but I have brought some of your amazing backgrounds!) and I was wondering if I would be able to edit the text on them and if we are allowed to make changes to them.
Thank you, and all the best!
Hi Sailing Ocelot! Thank you so much for your kind words, and for all the purchases, as well! ^-^ I’m glad you like these assets. All GUI elements are PNGs, so the text on them isn’t editable, unfortunately. However, I’ll keep in mind to add text-free versions of all buttons to all future packs, and add links to fonts used, as well. I’ll also try to make a new GUI pack that fits your needs, if you have any special requirements regarding colors, or elements that you’d like to appear on it, please share! And sure, you can always edit backgrounds and GUI elements to make them fit better your visual novel games. Have a great Sunday! Rachel
Hi Rachel, thank you for your response! I am delighted that you'll consider adding text-free versions of the buttons, I think this could benefit a lot of people! The colours I'm looking for are blues, greens and teal, with a strong emphasis on being underwater. My visual novel is actually a science-fantasy. There's technology such a holograms in this world. A mix of tech and water would be *seriously* cool.
With editing, it's always easier if the assets can be loaded via Photoshop or something, to make minor placement adjustments, etc. Just an idea!
Thanks again Rachel, can't wait to see what you'll do!
Hi SailingOcelot, Thank you for your message! And sorry for the late response, work matters kept me quite busy. I hope to post some new GUI packs by the end of this week, among them, the one you’ve requested.
As for Photoshop versions with editable elements, it unfortunately won’t be possible. :( First, I don’t even have Photoshop, and second, licences. I can use vectors commercially only if they make part of some larger final composition (in this case, an original game button), but can’t resell them as stand-alones.
Still, I’ll remember to add blank buttons without captions. I’ll also consider creating extra elements that can be combined together for decoration purposes, etc. Thank you for the suggestion! ^-^
Have a great Sunday! -Rachel
hi, rachel!
i absolutely love the backgrounds that you make for visual novel assets, they're really helpful, and i really appreciate the work that you're doing!! if it's okay, could i maybe request that you do more castle themed backgrounds? preferably the interior of one but exterior ones work as well!! i've been looking around the packs that you're currently offering, and there's a good portion that i'm planning on purchasing when i get the money! i just need more things to work with, unfortunately.
thank you for taking the time to read this ^^
oh, of course!! the exact things i'm looking for are things like the dining halls, royal libraries, throne room, ballrooms, dungeons, and maybe even a kitchen! those are the main things that i'm needing for my project, although the kitchen background im looking for wouldn't be too medieval and would look a bit more modern like the one i attached!
i hope you have a great day!! and i hope none of this is too hyper specific, i'm not the best at describing things when it comes to things like this ^^;
How much do you charge to commission backgrounds? I'm a little confused about how your system works. I have commissioned backgrounds in the past and they usually cost 50 USD each, which adds up quickly when you need a lot of different backgrounds. (My next project will need 6 backgrounds, which I estimate will cost me 300 USD in total. With Paypal fees, its actually a little bit more than that too.)
I make hentai / commercial VNs, you can see one of my previous ones here:
Hi Korytoombs, Thank you for your message! I don’t have a commission system set in place. I was asked about a project with exclusive rights once, but then the person changed their mind so that didn’t really work out. I plan to set some system with clearly defined prices, however, that’s more of a future plan. I’m going on a hiatus now, I’m moving out to start a new job, etc. Regarding background prices you’ve mentioned, they’re crazy expensive. Not even extended licenses from professional stock galleries cost this much! Keep looking for options, perhaps, some freelancer who’s just starting out, can help you get them done at a cheaper price. -Rachel
Hi Rachel,
I hope you are well, I recently stumbled on your page and I'm in love with your backgrounds. I am in the process of creating a mystery visual novel set in a large city and I was wondering if I could request some backgrounds for a police station the main character works at. Specifically, I’m thinking:
These are just some ideas of the main areas I have in my head. Hopefully, this is something that is possible. If you happen to have any other ideas of your own please don't hesitate. Also, I'm in no rush so please take your time.
Thank you so much!
Hi KelonTheMelon! Thank you so much for your message! I’m very sorry about the late response, I get tons of requests and comments and must have missed your message. :( I’ll start working on the police station pack right away. Regarding the outdoor shots of the police station, which season would you prefer? -Rachel
Hello Rachel! I’m not sure if you still do requests, but I’d love a brighter take on your cyberpunk city packs. If you could do some sort of solarpunk theme, I think it could be fun and I’d throw them in a lot of my projects. Futuristic or modern, but just with lots of fun greenery and plants everywhere would be really pretty :)
I hope you’re well!
Hi Rachel, I recently made a VN with your amazing backgrounds. I wanted to request for a Martian Civilization background pack as I set my VN in a time when humans become dual-terrestrial and live both in Mars, like a totalitarian super human society and Earth. I loved your solarpunk setting for Earth funny thing. I was looking for just that, "nature took back Earth" kind of theme. Anyway, A Mars Civilization would be amazing, Im willing to pay at your price and let you have full creative freedom.
The game I made using your resource (Abandoned Factory) is here: https://emanzi.itch.io/9factorial
Hi Emanzi! Thank you so much for your message, and your kind words! ^-^ I’m glad that the factory backgrounds were useful, and congratulations on your game! I’ve added it to the collection showcased on my profile. Regarding Mars Civilization, got it! I started working on this pack and hope to get it ready in the first week of October. One more question: would you prefer the buildings to be more monumentalist / totalitarian (large stone structures) or more modern / sci-fi (glass, bulbuous structures etc.)? Also, do you need some vegetation or prefer a purely arid landscape? Thank you! -Rachel
Thanks for adding the game to your collection, Im honored. I would want the buildings more sci-fi as its in a future date when humans settle on mars and in dome-like greenhouse structures begin to terraform the planet. So Artificial vegetarion perhaps in some aided capsule or dome like structures while the outside can be mostly arid. Also the atmosphere might have radiation so the architecture might need some kind of metalic or glass like finish to protect the humans living inside. The totalitarian rulers could have also built pyramid like structures as it has some conection to astrology and sulernatural power (Egypts pyramids are mysteriosly made) although they would probably use metals, glass maybe even refined man-madr materials like plastic or rubber to combat the radiation. Lastly Mars is very cold, like -64 C or at best -4 C.
Thank you so much, and Im completly open to your own artistic expression however you want.
Hi Gauloise Doree, Thank you for your request! Sure. I have some additional questions, though:
Hi Rachel! I just realized you had this little thread for requests right after I commented on one of your packs 🙈 I absolutely love the pack you made of the snow cabin in the woods but I'm in need of night/dark versions for them (and maybe even a version showing a snow storm from the windows but I can also manage without them, I mostly need night/dark versions for the cabin interior backgrounds), especially since it's for a horror-mystery game. Would it be possible? 💦 Of course I'll pay whatever your price is 💪
I also noticed the backgrounds are a bit bigger than the size I use for Renpy (1920x1080), will the backgrounds be cropped too much if I adjust them to that size?
Thank you!! ☺️
Hi Prikarin, It’s fine! I get notifications for all comments, so, I managed to find the other quickly as well. Regarding night / dark versions, would you prefer the interiors to have colder colors and muted lights, but still look like they can be inhabited, or to have a totally dark / haunted look (and characters are only visiting)? I’m asking because, I have two possible versions in mind. Regarding snow storm from the windows, you mean, snow entering the cabin through the windows, right? Should the interior be covered with snow / ice, as well? If yes, it would be easier for me to make a new pack from scratch. But in this case - would you need day versions as well? Regarding image size, I suggest using an image resizer to make images smaller. You can use an online image resizer. I can also attach smaller versions to the download, it’s not a problem. Last but not least, I’ve just posted two more packs from the cabin series, one with a large cabin and one with a wooden guesthouse (attached below), perhaps, one of them will work better for your game. If you’d rather I made night/dark versions of those, let me know.
Have a great weekend! -Rachel
Hi Rachel, thank you so much for the quick reply! Regarding the night/dark versions, it'd be great if they had colder colors and muted lights but still looks like it's inhabited (do you think the wood's color could be a bit more of "dark chocolate brown"? Or would that entail making it from scratch?); basically it'll be the home of an ecology researcher (who studies the environment, plants & animals), and the MC will happen to visit them because their car was broken and they need somewhere to stay. As for the snow storm from the window, what I mean is more like a snowstorm showing on the window glass but still being outside, it wouldn't be entering the cabin so you wouldn't need to make a new pack from scratch hehe.
The large cabin in the woods you posted below looks really cool too and it'd certainly be nice to have night versions of some of the backgrounds there as well but I don't know if you accept double requests so I figured I'd stick to the request of the night/dark versions of the small cabin in the woods.
Let me know your thoughts 🌸
Thank you so much, have a great weekend as well!
Hi Prikarin, I see. Sure! I can make the wooden surfaces darker, it’s not a problem. I’ll also recolor the windows so that they have a more “winter” look. Regarding requests, I accept all if it’s only possible for me to make them, so don’t worry! Feel free to request more packs / recolors. I know that game developers often neeed more backgrounds or work on multiple projects. It’s ok! -Rachel
Thank you so much, Rachel! I'm doing this visual novel for the Winter VN Jam which is during the whole month of December. Do you think you'll have time to do the night versions of the interiors in both the small cabin and large cabin in the woods packs before the end of the year? If not I can always use a place holder and add the night versions once they are finished, it's no problem ^^ thank you!!
Hi Prikarin, Thank you so much for your purchases! ^-^ I’m happy you found these new versions helpful. Regarding the dark/night recolors of the Large Cabin in the Woods, I’ve already finished them, I’m attaching the links:
When your game’s ready, please let me know, I’ll add it to the collection showcased on my profile! And good luck with the Winter VN Jam! -Rachel
Hello. I love the designs and variety of your backgrounds and hope to use them in the future. If I may ask, would it be possible to make a background of a cruise ship port/terminal, like something you'd see for a ferry or cruise line? Also, what about a mental facility, not abandoned but also not exactly a hospital?
Thank you and keep up the good work.
Hi GameAct, Thank you so much for your message! I’m glad you like these backgrounds. ^-^ And sure, I’ll add your requests to my list. I have a couple of additional questions, though: 1. On the outside shots of the cruise ship port, would you prefer to have sunny or gloomy weather? 2. Do you need just day shots of the cruise ship port / terminal, or sunset / night shots as well? 3. Do you have any specific rooms in mind for the mental health facility? If yes, could you describe them? In general, the more details I have, the more accurate the backgrounds. Have a great week! -Rachel
Hi Carine,
Thank you so much for your kind words! ^-^ Yeah, I’m hoping to make forest packs that match the cabins soon. If you have any other requests, don’t hesitate to let me know!
Also: I’ve just seen your e-mail, I’m really sorry you’ve encountered this problem with the Old Gothic Town Pack! I’ve checked and yes, I mistakenly set the old version of the pack (which was previously called the “Haunted Vampire Mansion”) as the one for download, instead of the new one (visible on the preview images). I’ve already fixed this problem, please go back to the downloads page and re-download the new file: Romantic Gothic Pack - 20 Visual Novel Backgrounds.rar. If you still have issues, please let me know! -Rachel
-Rachel
Hello,
Hmm, technically I need both: a modern city with buildings (for a more US story) and a quaint little European town or village for another story. For now, I need the modern city for my current story, but I'm interested in buying both. ;)
Do you make GUI Packs? If so, where are they? If not, no big deal, it's just that I wanted to know before going elsewhere. :p
Have a nice weekend too ^^
Hi Carine, I see, thank you for letting me know! ^-^ I’ll add both to my queue. I’ll be away for a couple of days but as soon as I’m, back, I’ll start working on your pack. Regarding GUI packs, I offered some in the past but they were fit for only one vn engine, TyranoBuilder. Most developers work with RenPy though, so the project was abandoned. I hope to reply to your email soon! -Rachel
Hi, I'd like to request some neighbourhood exteriors. Normal streets with houses, apartment buildings, cars parked on the road, maybe a small corner store or something. Something nice and mundane would be lovely. An asset pack of 6-8 is the number I was thinking. Thank you. No season preference but I'd like there to be trees and flowers in front of some of the houses to make it bright and cozy. I'd also love a night time recolour of the boho apartment and rooftop pack. Thank you. Love your work.
Allo,
Can you make a set that reflects an academy/institute type setting using either your baroque/portuguese/victorian styles or something combining them all? Where you have different offices of the chairman and professors, even a doctors office with bed for treating patients. Different hallways inside the academy and classrooms, maybe some classrooms where the desks are lined up steps with a podium below.
Hi Megowhat, That’s a great idea! I’ll add it to the requests list. Please let me know though, if you’d prefer something darker or more colorful? As for lecture rooms with lined up steps, I’ve tried to make this type of background before, it’s quite challenging. But, I’ll try, hopefully, it turns out better than my attempts in the past! Let me know if you have any other requests, thanks! -Rachel
Hi Rachel :)
I would love to have a pine forest, please.
You have "The Dark Forest Pack", but I would prefer a fir forest so that it is compatible with:
-Winter Forest
- Small Cabin
- Wooden Guest House
- Wide Cabin
which all show conifers.
Thanks to that, I think the theme will be complete and I could do a whole episode in the boreal forest.
I would like the day and night forest please to go with the different cabins.
I also feel like the chalets are in the mountains, so maybe the forest could be in a place with a bit of relief or make a mountain pack compatible with that forest. I would take both.
EDIT : I don't need a nightclub anymore, thank you, just the forest.
Thank you so much. You are doing an amazing job! :D
Hi Zyacat! Thank you so much for your request! And sorry for the late response. Sure, I will work on a fir forest, and pay attention to make it fit those packs, and also, to make a day and night version with different settings. Regarding a mountain pack, that’s also a great idea! I don’t have one yet, I will add it to the requests list. As for the nightclub, got it, no worries. I will still make one in the future though, as I have received multiple requests for it earlier, and somehow, I never followed through (I kept forgetting). Thank you for your support as well, it means a lot to me! Have a great week! -Rachel
Hi,
Okay thank you so much. :)
Yes, sorry for the nightclub, but as I release videos regularly, unfortunately sometimes I don't have time to wait.
This is why for the forest, I take it in advance, because I know that you have many requests.
I checked for all the rest of my series and I have everything I need in what you have already done. ;)
In any case, thank you for taking my requests into consideration. ^^
Hi Rachel :)
Are you still taking backgrounds requests?
If yes, I wanted to ask if a night version of https://rachelchen.itch.io/baby-blue-apartment-pack-6-visual-novel-backgrounds is possible?
I hope you are doing well, take care.
Hi Rachel! Hope all is well. If you're still taking potential requests for background assets, I was really searching for a pack that features deep south images (e.g. during the civil war, late 1700s -1800s). Places such as neoclassical southern plantations homes, crop fields, dirt roads. I found previous packs that feature cabins & forests that I could use but wasn't sure about the rest. Anywhere from 10-15 images would be perfect. :)
Hi Csingl2, Thank you so much for your message! Actually, I still take requests, I just took a longer break from the shop due to my daily job. The Civil War style pack sounds fun, let me ask you some additional questions! 1. What season would you like? 2. Do you need night versions? 3. Do you need more outdoor or indoor settings? Thanks! -Rachel
Oh that's great! The story takes place during the hottest summer months. Looking over the outline for my visual novel, here's a listing of potential scenes that might be helpful:
Most scenes will be outdoors, though a few indoor assets would be nice. ;)
Hi Sailing Ocelot! Thank you so much for your message! Yes, I have removed the classical series, partially because, I felt that those backgrounds weren’t that great, and partially because, the stock websites that I was using to find royalty free photographs and vectors, have suddenly changed their policies regarding the permitted use of their stock. In the past (when I was making those backgrounds and releasing them), it was possible to use photos commercially in any way, but last year, licenses have changed greatly, and a lot of new rules were introduced. As a result, it is not possible for me anymore to use stock from these websites, to make backgrounds and GUI elements, for resale. Law doesn’t work back, but, I always strive to comply with all licenses and policies, so, I removed the assets using that stock, from itch.io, to avoid any potential problem. Now, this doesn’t mean that you cannot use these backgrounds and GUI in your game, you can, as it is still permitted to use that stock in larger creative projects, especially while edited. I just cannot offer them for sale here, as it would be considered some sort of competitive activity. It’s a shame, btw, that they have changed those licenses and policies. In general, this type of situation, shouldn’t be happening, as it is not fair for people that have already used that stock for different purposes. Unfortunately, I cannot do anything about this. I have checked what assets you have purchased by your email, and, I have re-enabled the old downloads. Please make sure to download everything today, and write me a comment when you finish, so that I can disable those downloads again, to avoid a situation where someone accidentally buys it. As a side note, one reason why I have switched to AI art, is precisely that, if you use stock from other sources, you always risk that licenses will change, while most AI art, is licensed as public domain, and public domain license cannot be revoked. -Rachel
