i dowloaded a game for free and then the creators made it cost money,
i accidentally uninstalled it, and now i have to pay for it to play it again.

is there a way to download it for free again because i had it for free before?

No

I would regard this as a bug, personally.

If you've bought something here - even for nothing - you don't expect it to disappear like this.

Downloading something for free does not count as “buying” something. If you do buy (by spending money) something while the minimum price is at 0 then you will own it, even if a price is added at a later time that is above what you originally paid.

Additionally, it’s possible for developer to host a special sale where the price is 100% off but someone can claim the page to their library permanently.

Otherwise, you don’t own the game if you downloaded it once for free. Often developers change what they have available on a project page quite significantly as they develop the game, and we encourage them to add a price if that’s what they think is appropriate for their work, and run any necessary promotions or give out keys if needed.

Amongst the problems with that is that you (I) can't buy something here for less than a dollar. Which then gets made into $1.20 with VAT here.

If it were possible to put more than one thing into a cart and then buy them together, I would be more convinced that your answer was OK.

It's different from a game store traditionally, I wonder, if you actually buy it for some price, if your purchase continues even if the dev changes the price. Cause looks like you buy the download, not the game itself when it's free...

If you pay money for a game while it is free then you will own it, even if a minimum price is added later that is higher than what you paid for.

Downloading something does not count as owning it though.

Good to know! Thank you!
