Feedback on my game prototype

Hey guys,

I want to share with you the first playable version of my game. Would like to hear your opinion about mechanics and overall what do you think about the game.

This version has relatively short gameplay, it’s mostly about checking whether other people find it interesting enough to play :)

game controls did not work for me. Using Alienware Pc with Windows 10. Using google chrome browser. Hope it helps.

Which kind of controls don’t work: both mouse and keyboard or only keyboard? Was you able to start the game?

It was weird, I could start the game but once in the game it did not work. I think its because its web based. Web versions can be wonky. Did not test the single player/downloadable version.

Hi,

I tried the game and had no problems with the controls. I'm on Ubuntu + Firefox. With that out of the way, I would say it took me several tries to 'get the game'. It was unclear to me how to control the game. This is in part due to the long time that it takes between pointing and the actual shoot. To me it feels unresponsive and leads me to click again, canceling the previous command and starting again the whole process. Also I would like to point that the action of taking a hostage is a bit unclear, I didn't get it with the icon you've used. And I don't know if it's meant to be like that but once I got a hostage I couldn't fire to someone behind me and I had to release the hostage to be able to shoot and it feels quite counterintuitive.

With this said I think it's a cool idea and with some refinement of the controls and the responsiveness of the character you might be up to something cool. I hope this helps :)

Thank you for your feedback! Appreciate it :)

I just played this and I agree with Francisco. Controls feel delayed and often times unresponsive. It feels slow to just move from one hostage to another.

The big problem is the first level has no place to protect yourself and it is an issue because enemies spawn randomly. You either need to give a fixed spawn for the enemies or add in crates earlier so that you can protect yourself easily.

Having the hostage seems pointless here since enemies will attempt to shoot the hostage and you're stuck with nothing. Maybe you need something who's like harmless but poses a threat to the enemies like a boss or something?

Yes, your hostage will be shot, but while you holding him you will have more time to shoot other guys. And then you can take another hostage. Actually crates works exactly the same - they’re only temporary protection and will be destroyed as well. Regarding random spawning - it’s not exactly right. Notice, that all enemies are spawned at exactly the same place, only spawn delay is random.

I tried it but often times the controls would not respond. When I click a body part he'll often just raise his gun without shooting. It feels very unintuitive to control the character with just RE + Mouse. WASD would help.
