Can you recommend your own game to be featured on homepage?

Hi there!

I was wondering if it's "allowed" to recommend your own game to be featured on the homepage? Has anyone of you ever done that and if so, how was the response? I don't want to waste their time and be annoying but at the same time, I really want one of my games to be featured. The game is called Twin Switch (https://tomologames.itch.io/twin-switch) and to my knowledge, the game is unique. The response has been great but not a lot of people has played the game. It was released 7 days ago and has 1600 browser plays. It only has 11 rating but they are all "good" ratings so those who find the game seems to like it a lot.

Thanks in advance,

If you mean in the Recommend a game category, then no, that's not for self-promotion. Otherwise, sure, you can ask our admins. But they're usually busy and might not answer.

Thanks for the quick reply!

If "they're usually busy" then I won't bother them with something like this. I'll just have to find another way to promote the game.

Thanks again :)

Marketing your game is about building your audience. I highly recommend not putting all your efforts into trying to get featured in a specific spot, but instead try to go for a wide reach and use all channels you have available.

When we select games to be featured on the homepage it’s often because there are other indicators that tell us that the game is something people would like to come across. We typically don’t feature a game because someone randomly asks us to.

Hope that helps!

Thank you for your reply :)

I don't put all my efforts into trying to get featured in a specific spot. I have mainly used Reddit for promotion and the response from Reddit has been great. I've also posted the game on a few other forums but with little attention.

There are "indicators that tell me that the game is something people would like to come across" because I've gotten nothing but great response. I've never made a game that's gotten this great response before and that's the reason I thought the game could be "eligible" for the 'Featured Games-section'. I understand that there are a billion games out there and only a few games can get that extra attention on the homepage so I wasn't expecting it to be featured but I thought it was worth giving it a shot.

Thanks again! I'll try to promote my game further and build an audience in other ways :)

Cheers,

Tommy

On my humble opinion, it's better to let others decide if they will feature your work or not.

If your game was choosen, it's because they liked it and considered it worthy of such honor, which is something really great.

Otherwise, it's also good feedback. You can always meditate about where you can improve.
