Now that Steam Deck is a thing, would love to see you guys reconsider releasing this on Steam.   Also hope it's still in development as it's such a great game!

Thanks for the kind words!

We're actually beta testing a new version of the game right now and it will be released on both itch and Steam later this year. It will have some new content and a lot of new graphics/effects. We're not adapting the game to the Steam Deck specifically just yet, though - mostly because noone on the team owns one :)

We'll  make an announcement about the new version here on itch in the near future!

Great to hear.  If you need anyone to help test on a steam deck...  ::raises hand::

(I'd still buy the game, no freebies!)

But yeah, I can't wait to revisit this new version.  I'm also slightly an achievement person so even more excited for official steam.  Great game, wish you all the best success.

Thanks! Would be fun to know how the game runs on the deck even though we're not specifically targeting it.

There won't be achievements in the game at release, unfortunately, but it might happen in the future! We're a very small team that build the game in our spare time so we need to work on one thing at a time :).

I'm still hoping that when the Steam version happens, the itch.io version will be maintained as well. Valve has known since 2019 that an update to their launcher app is creating serious risk of harm for users with several medical conditions. They've not only refused to fix the problem, but have taken steps that make the problem worse by removing access to safe workarounds. Over the past 2 years, I've also seen them, in connection with this issue, violate privacy laws for users in at least 5 different countries, encourage at least 1 user to harm themselves in response to a request for help, and violate consumer protection laws in at least 3 countries, among other abusive behaviours. There's almost zero chance of me ever buying anything on Steam in future, even if they fix it today. Steam Deck is worth less to me than a paperweight, because I can get one of those without funding the single most abusive company in the gaming industry (and I say this knowing that Activision, EA and Ubisoft exist).

Please don't abandon a good platform to lock your product behind the only one so bad it's literally a health hazard?

Thanks.

We have no intention to stop supporting the itch.io version - all updates that come to Steam (except Steam-specific stuff, obviously) will also be published here on itch at the same time. Itch.io has treated us super well so we're happy to have the game hosted here.

Thanks! That's awesome to hear. I've seen some devs going both ways, supporting itch as well, or moving to Steam exclusively, so I feel it's important to make sure before I commit to something that might end up being functionally taken from me when it moves instead of spreading.

I play on a smaller monitor size... 12.3"... It is very difficult to read any of the text.  I think it would be impossible on a Steam deck without having to zoom all the time.
