Hi, did a second game bigger than the  1gig limit and wrote to the support so they can enlarge the capacity. For me

But that was soon 2 weeks ago.

Then  I  wonder about  to put the download on another site. Can't some Uploader see where they download it from and spree the link?

Was planning on  getting payed for  the game this time..

Thx for a great site.

Please reply..

We support games over 30GB, BUT, we put default limits in place because we allow anyone to upload a game. More often than not someone needing to upload a game of that size is mismanaging resources within their project. With modern game engines it’s very easy for new developers to pull in a lot of prefabricated assets from asset stores without understanding the implications in terms of performance and size. That is why for an increasing limit we ask that you reach out to us a show what you’re trying to distribute so we can ensure that you aren’t unnecessarily consuming resources.

If your game is over our default upload size then you should be seriously investigating what is included in your project’s build and why, since it’s going to negatively impact how players can access your game. Look into how you can compress resources and remove files that may not be needed.

Since this topic has devolved into your being rude, and you did not read the rules before posting, we’re going to close this topic.

Edit: I also see no support requests under your account. You must contact support using the email address on your account if you wish for us to make any changes to your account.

About the delay, I've let an admin know. Do you have a ticket number?

I don't understand your second question.

Yes, they can. Just like they can share the game after downloading it. But most players are honest and will want to support you.

what about butler? It'll allow you to upload up to 2 GB and also offers incremental patches.

Itch provides up to 2 GB which can at their discretion be increased. All they are asking for is 10% of your gross revenue. This is extremely generous and 2 GB goes a long way in the hands of competent people.

We do not know what their guidelines are for increasing upload limits, or even if there are any. My belief is that it is up to each agent to decide based on such factors as:

  • How you word your request
  • How much effort you put into your game page
  • How reasonable the game size is
  • How generous they are feeling today
  • Your posting history
  • How stressed they are

Reasonable request + Politely worded e-mail + Long Queue => Upload limit increased no questions asked

that is a lot, there is no free sites besides google drive, microsoft, amazon and other free storage s that allow you to upload 4.79 GB. Good news is that you can link them to one of them on itch.io but i dont think you can sell it nor you want to do that to sell games. However it's great for free games.

You can try Gamejolt, their limit is 3 GB. Are you sure you have done all you can to reduce the size?

Fairly certain he hasn't.

His previous game spends about 400 MB on what can be generously described as "a few minutes of cinematic".

My RPG senses tells me he spent 4 GB on about 10 minutes of cinematic.

Cinematics are overrated :)

Itch can handle games up to 32 GB. However convincing them that your game is worth that much is going to be difficult.

I suppose that if your game was one the most top grossing games you'd get this no questions asked, but for a new game creator having yet another prerendered CG adult visual novel, aint gonna happen.

If you have a lot of textures in the game did you check their size? You can save space by reducing it, although it will reduce also the quality of the images (a bit). See the image below (right bottom, Max Size).

Or you can make LODs: see Pete Jepson's tutorial on Youtube

If you used the Unity engine you can make a build of your game, then, in the console (top right corner) pull down the menu and select "open Editor Log". Scroll down to the section "Complete build size" and you can see how much space every one of your assets takes in your game. You can then optimize the biggest ones.

We do not know what their guidelines are for how much space a game is supposed to make. However the 2GB they give out to everyone goes a long way.

No one here can help, I would advice asking for help in Help wanted or offered if you are unable to properly optimize your game size.
