After a week of work, there is finally something to show. Decided to try a new engine (Godot this time) and a new set of tools. I drew a bunch of sprites, made some transitions, but I have no idea how this is going to end.

Initially working title was “Highlander”, but then I got inspiration from one old movie from the 80s, and it influenced the setting.

This fireball is epic !

Thanks! Decided to implement “Kill It With Fire” theme somehow, and it looks like it fit nice.

Created a boss with the gun. He doesn’t let player get to melee range, so… Kill It With Fire! (failed so far)

3 days left. Renamed game to “Hilltop Raider”, got rid of incomprehensible word. Spent several hours tweaking mobs behavior. It remains to do something like an intro (there is already an outro), compose music and then the most fun part: testing and balancing. And by the way, the dude now has a shovel.

The deadline is coming! After many test runs, I decided to simplify everything and make the game world smaller so that more people could see the final. Added a useful feature: the player’s position indicator, like a progress bar at the top of the screen.

Each landing (there are about 7 planned to complete the game) takes place on a randomly generated world consisting of several chunks. The further to the right, the stronger the enemies and the more valuable the rewards. Advancing further with each run, the player will gain strength to meet the boss.

The game is published, and even works! Unbalanced, unpolished, but with music that can’t be turned off :) At least I made it quiet. I’ve been fighting with HTML5 build problems last night, most of them have been solved, but the game still freezes occasionally. Hope you don’t run into this, I will definitely fix everything after the jam ends.
