General Update and Major Update Launch

Hello, I uploaded a new update for my game. Always that I upload a new update I post a devlog in General Update and Announcement. This helps me a lot because the impressions grow a lot. But this time I posted a devlog of Major Update or Launch and it seems that the result it’s the opposite, it’s like if I didn’t make the devlog, my analytics didn’t grow at all.
I have made a new devlog in General Update and Announcement because I’m afraid that my update go unnoticed. Usually posting a new update means that a lot of people download my game and appears first in the most popular list for several days.

Maybe can you explain what I did wrong?

I have broken the algorithm by posting a devlog in the wrong way?

Any chance to revert this extrange situation?

Thank you!

Hey there,

Posting a “Major Update or Launch” will cause your game to receive a similar bump to a newly uploaded game. This is used for when a project receives a lot of new content, and deserves a new bump.

For that to happen, it goes through a review, to make sure users are not posting such devlogs too often, so it might take a bit longer for the results to show.

Hope that helps :)

Thank you!

Will they notify me when it is accepted or denied?

As far as I’m aware, there won’t be any notification.

The general idea is, make the devlog, and keep developing the game, and Itch.io will take care of the rest.

So it may take several days?

It could, as mentioned above, I usually just keep working on a game and not pay attention to that review process. There’s not much more you can do on your side anyway.

I've posted a Major Update 7 days ago and it doesn't show up. I can see the "newest" Major Update Devlog is already 31 days old, which means Itch is one month behind. One Month! That's actually awful...

You guys really need some automation in your backend, not only for that though...

Forget about the Major Update dev blog category its not accurate, go the game section check most recent category and pick a few of the tags that your game have and then scrow down a bit to see if its updated (pushed to the top) or not

That's good to know, but my update doesn't show up there either. I scrolled and scrolled and scrolled, until I randomly clicked on one of the games, and it showed a last update 28 days ago, so if my update would be there, it would've shown up much higher up.

Check this out. So yea considering there is a game that's on top and have a major dev blog a week ago you should be put in the top soon.

I'm under the impression that these reviews just aren't happening. According to this page, the last "major update" to be released was almost 30 days ago: https://itch.io/devlogs/most-recent/major-update

Thank you!
That explains it all.

I have also had my dev logs appear in their correct category, and then later disappear.  It makes no sense and there is no transparency.  I don't even know if it's working properly.

I was very happy with the result of publishing devlogs, they multiplied my visits by 10, but this last time it's as if I hadn't published anything. Maybe there is some flaw in the algorithm that controls that.

I hope they solve it or at least report the malfunction.

I saw the same game, with 4 "major updates" in less than a month. In the end, it's always the same, pay for the sins of others.

That makes sense! I released a major update yesterday and I was hoping to see it posted already, but I guess it will take some days or even weeks to show.

This page was bugged and we just pushed out a fix that should help solve the issue.

Long story short: Devlogs were indexed, but they were not being marked with the correct category so they weren’t appearing here. We may continue to make some changes to this page, but it should be showing fresh content again.

Hello...sorry to disturb you. I face a problem. Would you mind reading the following post? Thank you very much!!!!!!!!!!
