Unfortunately, some default system fonts render these symbols as emoji. You can try to find a font with custom unicode symbols or try https://www.dafont.com/font.php?file=astro_gadget this font and replace the text in the symbol library input box with the symbols you need (i think it would be something like "A B C D E F G H I J K L M N O P Q R S T a b c d e f g h i"
I'll look into possibly creating my own custom font with those symbols properly set :)
So there are two possible options for symbols. The first is the symbols that show up on axis of symmetry if you have "Symbols At Points" checked. That one there should only ever be as many symbols as there are points(So I'm guessing you have Symmetry Count set to 8) the other option is to check "Symbol Ring" which will use all of the text in the "Symbol Text" field. Hopefully, that makes sense?
I actually considered the first option already but the issue is that I have it set at a value equal to the number of symbols I wanted to add in the ring (in one case, I wanted to add 10 symbols to the points - one symbol per point - but it wouldn't go over eight even though I had also set the symmetry count to 10 as well.) Also, I don't really want the symbol ring to show up, I just want the symbols to show at the symmetry count points, so the second option you mentioned doesn't really work in my case.
In addition to this, I've noticed that in some cases, it doesn't even allow 8 symbols to show up at the symmetry points unless I add a value of 1 more than I wanted to have showing to the symmetry count section. This would mean I'd have an extra symmetry points with no symbol in it and I don't really like the way it looks with that.
Please advise me on a way to fix this if there is something I can do to fix it on my end.
On that same .json file that i had previously sent you, the "ring 2" symmetry count is set as 8 but it doesn't show the 8th symbol I input into the "symbol text" section unless I set the symmetry count value as 9. A similar thing occurs whenever I try to add less symbols and a lower symmetry count value - it doesn't show the last symbol in the "symbol text" section unless I add 1 to the symmetry count value (i.e. 4-->5, 8-->9, etc.). I can send an updated version if you need me to.
Hi there! Recently foudn this tool, it's really nice and I'm excited to use it a whole bunch in my D&D campaign!
Said campaign is set in an Ancient Greece inspired world, and on the free web demo of the tool (http://www.magiccirclegenerator.com/), I can get greek text in the rings no problem. However, none of the local tools seem to be able to generate it. I've tried the program and the web form (on multiple browser, importing local fonts) and none of them seem to render this text.
This is what I get from the free tool: (the symbols around it are custom fonts, so I'm not surprised that they don't load)
But on the local versions I get this:
Do you know where this compatibility issue might come from? I'd expect Arial to have nonLatin support built in...
So I haven't properly used this app till now and I have immediately run into an issue.... Fonts when I go to change fonts the app just locks up I assume its loading all the fonts in the system.
Okay so I have over 900 fonts right I will delete quite a few. I did down to just over 500 and its still not working.
Thats quite a few fonts you've got! There shouldn't be a limit to the number of fonts it'll load, but you're far outside of the range that I've tested it with. What version are you running? If you're running windows, try clicking help > debug in the menu to show the error log. Or if you're running it in the browser try right clicking > inspect > console. Then with the debug window open, try loading your fonts and let me know if an error message pops up in there.
