Looking for some user feedbacks

Hey there,

I'm currently developing a small snake-inspired game on my spare time and I'd love to get some user feedback (see https://neirullet.itch.io/nake).

Here are some things I wonder about:

  • Do you take issue with the way the UI is laid out ? Does any part of it feel counter-intuitive or not user friendly ?
  • Any problem with the game's playability ? the core gameplay ? the performances ?
  • Do you find any basic functionality to be sorely lacking ?
  • Does the game's page do it's job of eliciting interest ? is the color theme too bright ?

In other words here's the place to lemme know I didn't do my job correctly😅 Leaving a comment on the game's page is also fine, I'd gladly give feedback on anyone's game in return.

Hey, this is a pretty cool game!

The concept is very interesting. I has a cute little unique spin on a retro classic and brings interesting things to the table. It stands out mostly due to its customizable maps and distinct terrains, each with their own designs and obstacles. The little snake and the rectangular terrains are adorable by the way :)

- The UI is quite good! It makes perfect sense to the player and freely lets them play the game how they want. At first I was going to complain about the default zsdq controls, but I was relieved when I found that I was able to change them, and many other things.

- The playability is solid, the core gameplay is interesting and fresh despite its classic roots, and everything performed wonderfully!

- I didn't find anything wrong with the functionality. Sometimes I would get confused as to why the snake would hit something in the pond level, when it seemed to just hit another water tile, but I may be missing something.

- I quite like the game page! It clearly showcases all the modes that game has to offer and explains them, so players will definitely get excited if it's their cup of tea.

I take it you have a heart for the retro classics? It seems I do as well... I could use some extra feedback on my retro-style RPG, if you don't mind: https://wasabiiii.itch.io/grass-elemental-demo-demo

Anyway, this game has lots of potential, keep up the good work!

Thank you for the feedbacks ! I'll investigate the issue with collision detection 🤔the snake is only supposed to collide with obstacles twice it's size but the fact it's submerged in water might throw all my calculations off. I was going for kind of a retro esthetic with the visuals and soundtrack so I'm relieved that's indeed how it comes off.

Update: now I see what you mean ! When being submerged too long in water the snake dies which is the intended behavior but obviously it wasn't made apparent enough so I'll work on fixing that 😊

Hello! Its a nice game with actually cool features - i havent expected those to be there actually.. like theme changer, map editor. Thats great! I liked it a lot! Had some time to get used to moving map while snake is moving too tho. I mean, that sharp appearance of new tiles + sharp movement of snake itself made me a little bit confused at start, but its okay, i've got used to it eventually ^^ its a game style after all. It would be cool also to add some new music while playing - mb different music for each map or so. Havent encountered any bugs yet. It looks cute, i like that retro style a lot! Pls keep it up!

Thanks a bunch ! The sharp movements can be a little disorienting at first that's true but I'm happy to hear you got the hang of it 😊Having different songs for each map sounds like a great idea I'll try to incorporate it into the next update
