Oculus lab version issues

hello, with the lauch of oculus lab version I quickly downloaded the demo to test before buiyng there the full version, but it seems more buggy, my setup is oculus vr2, running videos from a Rapberry 4 with stash and stash vr

Most videos that opens without any problem with the  io version 9.4 are not opening on oculus labs 9.5, both are installed on the same de device, now I'm afraid to buy the lab version and will need to stick to the demo io version because don't open 90% of my library

Anything that I need to do to make the lab version to work correctly? Do I need to delete something because I have the io version?

Thanks

Have you tried the app lab v0.9.4 version (main production channel and not RC channel)? I think some users were reporting issues with accessing SMB shares using the hostname with v0.9.5.

this is not SMB, it's using the API as I'm using the stash-vr that connects using the API, I tried to find a way to download an older version o oculos lab and no luck, I only used the interface on oculus itself to try to find the 9.4 version

I think I will wait for an updated version on lab to see if it improves,

I think I know the answer but ask anyway, who knows .

If I buy the oculus lab bersion can I also have access to io version, in case I continue to have this video playback issues?

Are you sure you're actually on v0.9.5 on app lab? The default channel is on v0.9.4. You have to manually open the HereSphere app lab page on a web browser, scroll down to the version entry, and then select the version to switch to the RC channel for v0.9.5. There shouldn't be any major differences between the itch.io version and app lab (other than lack of support for bluetooth synchronized peripherals on app lab).

I'd recommend checking to see if it actually the difference between v0.9.4 and v0.9.5 that's the causing your issue. You can do this by either switching the app lab version, or installing v0.9.5 from itch.io to compare.

Meta does not give user purchase info, so I can't offer an itch.io version if you buy from Oculus. However, if you purchase from itch.io, I can send an app lab key. You'll just need to send an email to support@heresphere.com with the email you used to purchase from itch.io.

Yeah you were right, the lab version was 0.9.4, not 0.9.5, so the test was even better as the version is the same, I uninstalled lab 0.9.4 and installed lab 0.9.5 using your procedure, but the problem remains, I uninstalled the 0.9.4 io, uninstalled the lab version, to see if the files and cache can be deleted(I don't know how to delete cache files on Quest), and reinstalled the Lab version 0.9.5 (this time I double checked :), right version), and the issue persists, files that open without any problem on io 0.9.4 don't open on lab 0.9.4 or 0.9.5,

I also made some initial tests, I could not deep dive and I may be wrong, but it seems the problem just happens on API, I tried to access the same file using an HTTP address as I also have an NGNIX running in my raspberry and all the files that I tested that failed using the stash-vr via API worked. I also tested the SMB, again the same files that failed using the Stash-VR/API worked

The files that are working using stash-vr via API seem to be with lower resolution the ones that are 1920 and lower seem to work. tried to see if it's related to video codec but it seems all files are hevc, size seems not to be the issue, but I did not really tried to see if the size is the matter and may be

in short from my few tests:

0.9.4 io - all files work on HTTP, SMB, and API/Stash-vr

0.9.4 and 0.9.5 lab - all files work on HTTP and SMB,  files with resolutions higher than 1920 fail in API/Stash-vr

Developer

That's pretty strange. Would you mind trying xbvr to see if the issue is purely related to stash-vr? I haven't heard any other users with this issue, so it might just be something related to your setup.

sorry for the delay, sometimes the simplest answer is the correct one, I found the issue and feel stupid :馃榾

I troubleshoot more, whent to Stash logs, and found encoder errors, so made the sense issue with high resolution files, but when I reinstalled the io version I also started to have the issue, the solution ... well obvious just select direct instead of encode on heresphere, I did that in the first time on io version and totally forgot to do in lab version

After selecting to not transcode everything started to work

What a dumb thing

Question: (I am currently testing the demo, installed it today 29-AUG-23 on the Oculus via the lab) I select a video via SMB from a NAS, not yet tested my Plex yet, but how does one close the window where settings can be made and videos selected (or is it not possible in the demo - makes the test difficult as I cannot focus on the quality of the movie)?

Press the B or Y button on your motion controller to toggle the menu.

thank you. I hadn鈥檛 looked at the controls yet… oops.
