I love this style of game and I'm really keen to see how this progresses in development. I think it's slightly too much maths for me at this point, but I looove so much of the direction. Love the going between manuals: brilliant stuff. Keep up the great work =)

Hi CorduroyZebra (love the name)

Thanks for starting this topic and I appreciate the kind words. The manuals were always meant to be designed to make the game portable and streamlined, whether that is the case I'm not sure yet, but I'm pleased you're enjoying this aspect. I did also hope to avoid having a rule book as such and have the player encounter it as if a computer game where you have no rules and can just dive in.

It's a good question. Can it be less maths dependent? Great point. Something I'm going to have a think about. There is an inevitable crunch to this game but thinking of new ways of tackling the elements that can be a barrier will only help its development.

I'll be keen to see other peoples' take.

Thanks again my friend!

Toby

Definitely works to help just dive in, you've more than succeeded here. It's a style that so few tabletop games even try, let alone do well.

This kind of this is always gonna have crunch, though, so please don't feel pressure to waiver and dial it down to cater for everyone.

I've got some ideas to hack parts of this system to make it more of a game for me. If I come up with something I'll be sure to post it here.

Thanks CorduroyZebra!

For the only math I found, I wrote a little program on my HP11c/HP41cx. You enter the base price of a material, press ENTER and then type in the total sum of percentage modification. "PRG A" gives you the rounded up result of the total value of your product. Example: 7, ENTER, 60, LBL A. Output: 12

They used a HP41 as a manual board computer in the space shuttle. Very authentic experience :)

ohoho yes! That calculator would immerse me so hard. I wonder if some kind of mathematic paper aid might speed things up a little... Not sure what that would look like.

In doing some testing with things, I think the slowest parts for me are the sheer amount of data to generate; so many tables and so many goods to update before actually making any gameplay decisions. When I'm making decisions, I'm having a blast.
