Have you ever Bought anything on Itchio for more then 3 dollars? If yes, what was it? if you dont mind sharing. Feel free to drop a link to the content/asset you purchased as well.

If the answer is no, feel free to mention what you primarily use the itch website for.

I am contemplating selling on itch.io but i am not sure what people consider worth purchasing. The website seems oversaturated with free and cheap content. Therefore this is sort of a form of market research, since i don't see a forum, blog, or newsletter from itchio about top selling assets or content.

Thank you for reading

More than $3? Yep!

To list something in particular, I bought a zine bundle for $7 from Beth and Angel Make Games.

Why would you expect a newsletter of all things. Or a blog about top sellers. The few things Itch kinda promotes are in the featured  sections and this tells nothing about it beign sold often.

What tells about being sold often is the actual list, if you sort it accordingly. I guess that list is a running average or something and not an all time ranking though.

If you want to research what is unpaid and people still pay for, use the free option.

This is distorted a bit by "individually priced" files. That is, a free project where some files are behind a pay wall.

Yup, I've bought some art assets from creators whose art style I liked and thought could be well incorporated into the game I'm making.

I'd rather buy on itch than on Steam all else being equal, but a lot of the time, devs are more on top of sales and updates on Steam, even when they do sell on both platforms. And admittedly I tend to be pretty cheap on both platforms.

For Aseprite I actively paid more to buy it here, knowing that it was on sale on Steam, because I wanted a version that wasn't attached to Steam. (I'd also been using it for free for a couple years by that point, admittedly--it's less likely I'd have bit the bullet if I wasn't certain I'd be using it all the time.)

Sometimes I buy assets, like Zaebucca's, just because I'm curious what's in them. I got anima_nel's Coastal Mountain for $5, entirely because someone in the comments made a sample beach and I went "Holy shit, how did they do that?" (Those gameboy ocean waves are a 20 frame animation. That is how they did that.)

Yes, I bought a high-quality music pack by Tim Beek that was on sale 50% off - was only $5 which was a bargain (but I had little money at the time - so I was grateful for the sale price).

I would've spent more, but Itch.io has systems that blocks me from buying here using virtual credit cards. (Issue with them validating a 5-digit zip code, my country uses 4-digit zip codes - so it won't validate. That was a while back.) The virtual credit cards were in dollars and there were a few dollars left before they expire which I wanted to spend here - but I never could.
