Hey it's your least favorite game maker here again! So ya'll I need your help because I'm trying to find a game engine. The problem? A lot are 3D. And if it supports 2D then it's mostly text code, so is there an IDE that I can use which is 2D and no age restriction? (I mean like you won't get banned for including swears lol) thank yall for reading this and god bless everyone.

I'm not sure what you mean by age restriction.

Maybe some engines are paid and you have to sign an EULA that asks you to be at least a certain age?

If that's the case, focus on opensource engines, there are many 2D ones.

The most famous one would be Godot (3D and 2D), an alternative with graphical programming would be gdevelop

If it's a specific game, for example, an RPG, Open RPG Maker

If it's a VN, it could be Renpy. etc. etc

Now, if you know programming, instead of an engine you can use a library, and for 2D, you have SDL and SFML.

Well I wanna make a game that has swear words, BUT THE LIZARD IN MY SOUL- jk there's no lizard, but I use game engines like Scratch and I don't wanna get banned.

Have a look at GameMaker or Clickteam Fusion.  Both have free starter editions so you can play around with the software and see if it will work for you.

As for using swear words in a game:  the software companies do not control what you make with their software. The publishing companies might put an age-restriction on your game for the swearing, but that's the worst that can happen.

Thanks for telling me! I've seen gamemaker and can't use it cause I have to ask my mom if I can make an account, but I'll try Clickteam Fusion. -GAME_Maker (added last part bc idk)

Can't use Fusion because you gotta download and my computer expired in 2018 lo

MY MOM SAID I CAN MAKE AN ACCOUNT ON GAME MAKER:D

Unity can do 2D and 3D, takes a little learning to use sprites, colliders and stuff but not too bad, :3

lol my computer is old I can't download Unity.

(1 edit)

Come now, If i can use unity on Windows XP (granted an outdated version of unity) I'm sure yours is fine unless your setup is somehow older than  2006?

nah it's younger then 2006 It's a chromebook and was made in 2009
