Seemingly not getting payed for downloads!

I have received over thirty downloads for one of my games over the past few years, but my earnings from it don't make any sense! I charged $1.99 to download the game, but it looks like I've only received payment for two of those downloads. One was in 2021 and earned me $2.99 (too much). The other was in 2024 and earned me $1.00 (too little), despite the game being downloaded six times! Can anyone explain what the heck is going on?

Which game? Sounds like it might be one of those you've set as pay-what-you-want, in which case the suggested price is just that: a suggestion.

You don’t get paid-per-download on itch.io. Downloads are a metric recorded every time someone triggers a file download that show up on your analytics. Purchases are separate event: When someone buys your project, potentially unlocking access to download something, if you have set a minimum price.

Hope that explains

I'm not sure I follow. Does this mean that it's the same person downloading it over and over again having only paid for it once?

Someone who owns your project is free to download it as many times as they like. We don’t impose any DRM or restrictions on how they can access the files you have uploaded.

I'll take that as a 'yes' then.

One should also note that "download" means started download and not completed download.
