Extremely slow download speed in Australia

Hey all, this has been brought up a few times but had not been delivered with any fitting solutions. I am downloading games from both the Itch.io website and the game launcher, and the download speed is SLOW,  with the speed being around 100 to 300KiB/s.  Slower than what it should be. I download from my internet in Australia, where it is above average - 6MB/s download on Steam, Epic, uPlay, Origin, etc., no peaks, etc., it's pretty fast. So why is it incredibly slow in this case? I've attempted using a VPN, using a Singapore IP address as well a U.S. IP, with no luck. I really wish this is solved in a short period of time because there are countless games I really wish to play but don't want to spend days just to download them.

Have you tried alternate download mode on the web download page? There's some info here (page is old, but link still exists) https://itch.io/updates/alternate-download-mode-and-improved-download-text

Turned it on, no difference at all

Those are served from entirely different data-centers, so if the speed is exactly the same then I would think something else is going on. Maybe you can test on a different internet connection?

apps use data, you have to turn off or uninstall those apps in the background. another thing to note is that google analytics also takes a few data and has reported to use up 99% of data for websites. If you are on windows 10, use metered connection, to help get some speed.

Yes, that would help me if I had a slow internet connection that has the speed of a public WiFi from McDonald's, something equivalent to the ADSL connection we all used to have in Australia back in the 2000's. But today? No, internet very much like yours
