Scheduling My Work

Hello everyone, this is my third dev log.

The team's focus this time was centered around laying down the initial planning framework for our game, " Auto Shipping Solutions."

I commenced with the master schedule,  assigning key tasks crucial for our first development week. This included initializing the programming environment, kickstarting the concept art, and fleshing out the narrative structure. Each task was allocated to a specific team role/responsibility, organized by weeks to maintain a tight schedule.

Moving forward, I constructed a PBS of our game's components—level design, programming, art, gameplay, documentation, audio, and narrative. For each component, I broke down the subcomponents, matching them with team leads to ensure clear ownership and defined responsibilities.

The frameworks we've established today are designed to refine our development workflow. Looking ahead, the next steps include a thorough review of the PBS with team leads to ensure every detail is precise and conducting preparations for launching our first development sprint in Jira.

Hi Yanfei!

It's good that you're already on top of starting up your Jira for your first few weeks leading up to the prototype build.

If you can, I recommend looking into a rough overview of what your team's schedule for the next semester could be. Having a basic outline for what needs to be done each week when starting this project for real will give your team a much easier time overall, in my experience.

I wish you luck, and hope your schedule works out for you and your team!
