What an amazing game. Gameplay is well thought-out, although the purpose of different movement arrows is not obvious. Graphics are beautiful with fitting sounds and music. Got to depth 88 first run.

Well done!

Developer

Thank you for playing! And congrats to making it to depth 88! It's not an easy game the first time around.

The movement arrow mechanics are a bit obscure but each time you move to a new depth, each button rolls and determine what kind of encounter they are. And then you roll again to see if you can make out what it is (you can increase your chance of seeing what each direction will be based on your Mind stat). When you hover over them, it will tell you if you can see something or not. Texts like "You can't see anything in the darkness in front of you" means you failed your vision roll to see what's ahead. While texts like "The path in front of you seems somewhat safe" means that there's no enemy encounter and of course texts like "You feel an evil presence in front of you" means there's gonna be an enemy encounter in that direction. Hope that helps!

Cool game! The mood is what sells it to me, and everything is so polished. Great job for a one week project

Developer

Thanks! I spent way more time than I should've fixing a bunch of edge cases to polish the game more and even then, I still missed a few :( But I'm glad you enjoyed it! I orignally planned to make everything myself but halfway through the jam, I realized I wasn't goin to finish everything in time and so I reached out to toffeemilky to do all the sound and music. And his work really contributed to the mood and tone of the game. And it's also his first time doing music and sound design for a game!

It's impressive you made it so fast there's a lot going on there with the stats and also the detail in the graphics. nice entry.

Developer

Thank you! The deadline got super tight for me trying to do everything. I wouldn't have done it without getting help from toffeemilky doing all the sound and music halfway through the jam.

what an impressive game. making this in a week's time is insane to me. so cool

Developer

Thanks! It makes all those sleepless nights worth it lol. There were still so much I wanted to implement but didn't have time to, such as more advanced enemy ai and attacks they can do.
