Made me fully realize that I still have a long way to go in diving into shaders. I’ve made a similar FPS before the jam, using another palette ordered dithering shader. By comparing two I still like way the shader handled in your game, guess will try it on my next project. :) Great job!
Ascend is a game with a lot of style and I really appreciate that. It looks and sounds genuinely amazing. Unfortunately I feel like it is hurt by the lack of weapon and enemy variety making it so that after the first few levels things begin to get monotonous. The level design and puzzles are also both pretty good so they keep you going, but I found myself a bit bored by the end.
If you scrolled down here to see the comments, download the game, its really fun! Maybe I'm a bit biased because I love shooters.
Everything looks COOL. The Overall Feel, OnDamageTakenVFX, the terminal, the respawn camera, I jumped off a couple of times just to see that. I was itching for a boss fight in the end, but it's alright I think this game is good enough in my opinion. The credits and quit main menu buttons doesn't work for me, but eh one can always alt+f4.

I ran out of time hard at the end, I would have loved to put in more enemy types and weapons and levels but there was just no way. Didn't even have time for a proper credits page! Glad you liked it though
It is cool game, i died a lot, i like the estetics, it took me like 5 minutes to realize how the hacking minigame works.
Solid shooter. Nice implementation of the 1-bit style into a 3D environment.
Was fun shooting those cyborg bellprouts. I wasnt able to manage to understand the hacking minigame. I even failed it multiple times which prompted to spawn 10000 enemies in the next hall and I got rekt.
It seems to get softlocked if you press esc during the game over animation.
Thanks for trying it out. To complete the hacking minigame you gotta remember the keyword floating above the orb before you start (that could have been designed better) and then click it before time runs out. When you fail, it's supposed to create enemies and send them to your position but the pathing is sometimes suck. Thanks for letting me know about the bug when pausing during game over sorry bout that ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
