Simple idea but well put together, I had a similar idea when first trying to implement the theme.
The hitbox of the character is a bit too big for its own good and the movement is a bit fast for such a tight area. A bit barebone but pretty neat experience overall, nice one.
What worked:
Pushing ghosts around if they were in my way was pretty funny. I'm not sure how good of a mechanic it is (possibly want to make them intangible to the player), but the idea of a housekeeper shoving ghosts around for being in her way is hilarious. I liked that some areas were better left closed. It gives a variety to opening doors, and an idea that you should focus on the objective and not wander around making things harder for yourself. You could also add something for the player if they want to wander into ghost riddled rooms in an expanded version.
What didn't:
The insta-kill obstacles were a bit too hard to see. Some sort of texturing on them might help with this (light dithering, even if just on the edges). I kept running into them because my eyes just registered them as part of the darkness.
Bugs:
Restarting after winning starts the player with no light.
Great job! RIP to the moon.
The moon shall always stay in our hearts
I love maze games, you did a pretty good job on this one! Well done!
I really like the concept! Good job! here is my feedback/advice:
The movement is quite sensitive so i found myself dying alot due to sensitive movement. I was confused at what to do at first but i quickly figured it out, some sound would tied this experience all together. Well done tho! :)
Cheers. I agree about the movement, something about the way I used velocity in Unity made it so horizontal movement doubles move speed which made the controls feel faster than intended.
It's a fun and solid maze game just like the Irritating Maze, where you cannot touch certain walls and must complete the maze in a time limit. I haven't seen this type of game for a while!
I love how you implement the elements of Light & Dark into the traditional irritating maze type of game. As the light runs out, the player needs to be quicker but also more careful since they cannot see far when the light is low.
Been eying you game for a while, the pun is superb!
The gameplay is really interesting and original, I really liked it! Would have been nice to have a save between levels so you don't have to start over every time
I have added a save function as well as the ability to continue between sessions. Thank you for the feedback, the game honestly really needed that
I fixed the game so now you can actually progress past level one. Sorry for any annoyance
Enjoying the game! Managed to light the 3 candles, but I'm stuck at the trap door – it seems open but I can't progress. I suggest adding 'R' or 'Enter' restart option on the game over screen. Also, sound effects like a flame igniting could enhance the experience. Great job overall!
Finally fixed that fuckin bug if you wanna give it another go
I managed to light up 3 of the candles. art is very nice. I liked this game the most so far.
