Hey Ruben, finally played your game. It's really nice, for real. I guess you missed some more Radomness on your AI, it would let the game even funnier.

Developer(+1)

I wanted them to be random in some way but following some predictable patterns, they still need work anyway.

Thanks for the feedback!

Randomize the bullet spawn interval and submit an update

Quick and fun, but so simple that it quickly stops being engaging. Great work :)

I like your take on "you are the weapon", very cool idea.

The game overall was fun. I too found that spamming the spacebar led to me just dashing around the screen but this did not necessarily take away from the fun and made it more about getting as big of a combo as possible!

I enjoyed the game overall, I would be interested to see where you would take it beyond just slamming into things. I could see this being a very fun arcade game to play with a bit more fleshing out (I'll mirror other Mykaelos' sentiments about powerups)

Well done!

Thanks for your feedback!

I'll probably expand it with a lives system that lets you have more chances. I've thinked on adding new kinds of enemies too. I'm still thinking on power ups that gives the game more depth while keeping the same feel.

Glad that you enjoyed it :)

Fun game! Good challenge and replay value.

D-Studios' feedback is right on the money. Once I figured out how to time and spam the attack, it became a bit easier and a ton of fun! Felt like I was dashing through enemies like a ninja! And there was kind of a dance to avoiding landing on the bullets at the wrong time.

A bit of feedback you're welcome to ignore :), in my opinion, powerups would go a long way in this game! Maybe a powerup where you attack continuously for a short while would be really fun (and show the player how to better dance around). Or maybe a shield power up? Or extra lives/armor to survive hits? Lots of good potential for added replay value.

One final thing, I had difficulty keeping my combo going. Not sure if the spawn rate was the problem, or I'm just a noob. Or possibly I didn't get far enough into the game.

Otherwise, fantastic game! Really nailed the arcade feel!

Edit: bah, forgot to mention that I loved the music! Great energy and beat! A little repetitive after a while, but I enjoyed listening to it while writing out this comment :D

Thanks for the feedback!

I'll probably add extra lives as power ups that can be obtained having geting high score, it will probably make longer and more intense sessions.

A tip to keep your combo going is not to kill the enemy ships as soon as you see them, try keeping them on the game and farm their bullets (destroying bullets keeps the combo going too), but don't let a lot of enemies on screen or you will be in trouble ;).

I'm happy that someone mentions the music too, I didn't give it too much time but still wanted to have something of my own to play on the background, maybe I'll make more sections and reduce the repetitions of each section in order to have more diversity.

For a few seconds, i thought that i was enter in a good old arcade room ;D

Your interpretation of "You are the weapon" is quite interesting, and it's a cool gameplay. I found the background a bit annoying, the first time you don't really know if the big stars are decorations or bonus/ennemies.

Anyway, it's a pretty cool game, bravo !

Developer

I didn't want the background to feel too empty or simple, but you're right, the bigger stars are distracting when you are getting into the game :/. Glad that you enjoyed it and thanks for playing!

Some things that I liked in order of most important to least important:

* I thought the controls in the game were prettty simple. I quickly learned how to play the game very easily. I also liked the fact that you told the controls in the game, and did not just expect the player to look at the description for the controls. Also, the controls were explained very clearly in a basic matter.

* I liked the polish of the attack. The sound effect and the way the screen shaked when I pressed the attack button made me feel powerful, and I liked feeling that.

*  I liked the UI of the game because it was simple, clear, and did not clutter the game. It added to the feel of the game, and did not detract from the experience.

Some things I disliked about the game:

* There is an exploit in the game which makes the gameplay extremely easy. What I did in the game was that I just spammed the space bar continuously, and doing this made the gameplay a lot easier for me as I did not have to worry about dying. If a bullet was heading towards my direction, I was usually able to destroy the bullet easily as I was spamming the space bar.

* I disliked the fact that the player is shot at as soon as the player starts. When I first started and did not know about the exploit of the game, I just died as soon as I started a game. I thought that this was unfair as I did not even get a fair chance to grasp the concepts on how to play the game.

* The graphics are very distracting and detract from the experience. When I was first playing the game, I thought the background stars were part of the game and I was worried that they were bullets. Also, I did not even know where I was when I first started. After a couple of games, I later on found out that I was the object that looked like a crosshair and I was not one of the space ships in the game.

I keep losing right away, but it's fun. I like it!

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, maybe i went a bit too far with the difficulty, but keep trying, once you start getting a good combo you get some really high scores (personal tip: keep farming bullets from one ship not moving too much and destroy it when the next one spawns, that way you will have the situation under control while keeping the combo up).
