Pros:

  • Good Item/loot system. Quite a few items considering you ran out of time and it was only a 7-day Jam.
  • Pleasent art style and palette choice. Simple but effective.
  • Very Roguey.

Improvements (A lot of you have already mentioned, but I thought I'd still give you the ones that stood out to me):

  • Some kind of feedback for when you take damage, deal damage, equip an item, teleporting, etc.
  • Ability to skip turn
  • Needs Audio (SFX, bg music or ambience)

Bugs:

  • Not quite sure what happened, but I think an enemy got stuck in a doorway somehow and I ended up mashing a move key to try and enter next room and ended up dying 😀

Overall, a nice submission. Well done!

Wow, the game was simple but I really liked it! I beat it on first try but adding max health and improving weapon felt so good :) I wish there were more items to equip like shield, helmets and so on. One shoting enemies with legendary claymore felt awesome :D

Developer

Thank you so much! You are quite lucky to get that legendary claymore!

Implementing and fixing the inventory system took most of the time so I couldn't add more interesting items/content. I should've probably just used the JSRL library which is made by the host himself and seems to have a built-in inventory system.

Thanks again and glad you enjoyed the simple game!

Fun for a simple experience, sadly i didnt manage to beat the dragon, he was at 11 hp though. He seemed not to like moving past corners so i could often round a corner and heal a bit till i ran out of supplies.

 - Wish there was a way for me to skip a turn to let an enemy come to me

 - I like the damage health pop up it adds a bit of pushiness to attacks, a little screenshake would have made it feel even better.

 - Would also like more feedback when im getting hit, sometimes i didnt notice how low my hp was

Overall a fun short experience.

Developer

Thanks for playing and for the feedback! Yeah the skipping turn mechanic is important in turn-based roguelikes and should have been very easy to add, but I forgot about it. Glad you had fun with the little game!
