Well, what a wonderful roguelike. I'm always amazed when people manage to integrate a mechanic that, by its nature, could never be a roguelike, into a fun and well-finished project that actually works and looks unique!

A real-time mechanic like car racing, brought into a turn-based, ASCII, and random rolls system, in an excellent and careful way.

My congratulations on the project. I always highly value the "different" ideas that are achieved in 7DRL.

I tip my hat to your idea and your game. Congratulations.

What a delightful little game! I'm a huge fan of the board game Formula D which this is based on, so I was absolutely thrilled when I saw the concept, and I absolutely could not stop playing until I'd beaten it. It'd be really interesting to see this concept expanded! The "exploration mode" you go into when you lose a race makes me imagine a game with a procedurally-generated "world map" based on interconnecting highways, where you can find enemies to challenge (or who would challenge you, like a hostile Nethack enemy) with some amount of reward/penalty attached to the race. Add that to the concept you mentioned about upgrading your car's gear dice and that's the start of a really interesting adventure game!

Thanks for playing! Yeah originally I wanted expore mode to be the default and 2 or 3 grunt races before the boss race which would open up an exit tile that connected the maps instead of just loading the next level. And upgrades, tuning, and boost or brake dice items. But it had to be cut for 7drl at least.

Yes, a little well made rogelikish turn-based car game. Neat. I’m a bit sad I didn’t properly understand why I loose sometimes 🤔.

Thanks for playing! Yeah, it's a bit confusing sometimes losing HP cuz its based on your speed roll not your moves left like in Formula D and things like the stopping behind a car taking damage only show up in the log after the fact, and race progress calculated only each "round" so if you get ahead of a car you're not really ahead because they haven't moved yet since you went first in the turn order!
