What do you like about your game?
I made this game with my custom Vulkan-rust engine as a way to motivate myself to stop procrasinating on engine work. I'm happy that the game functions at all

Great work getting a custom engine written during the jam :) The micro gameplay loop of shooting feels pretty solid so some extension with more of a macro loop could make this great since it already feels really good. Awesome to see Rust too! I've been messing around with a custom engine in Odin, but fell back on Python + Raylib which is my go to for this jam :P -- excited to see where this one can go though, the visuals have a great vibe. Nice job!
Absolutely loved the throwback vibes with fantastic music that sticks with you! The accumulating blood decals add a unique touch to tracking progress. Impressive work on the custom engine and gameplay mechanics. A little tweak for mouse locking and bullet tracers would be icing on the cake!
Fun romp, with excellent music! Tune got stuck in my head for days.
Love how the blood decals pile up over time as you play the game, it's a cool indicator of the 'path' you've taken during the playthrough.
idk if this is just a me thing but i don't think it locks my mouse, but aside from that this game is a perfect little doom-like game, and the custom engine aspect of it just makes it way more impressive to me. i really like the model for the gun too, reminds me of an old nes zapper. the only thing i would really suggest adding is bullet tracers would be nice, as there's no crosshair so some indicator of where your shots were landing so you can adjust. i also made an old-school fps, but yours is certainly more true to the origins of the genre. big respect!
Thanks for giving the game a go! I appreciate the suggestions :> Crosshair and locking the mouse would be great additions to the game but I ran out of time to add a UI pipeline into the engine.
The enemies definitely fit the theme super well, I kinda liked not having the crosshairs cause it made it more satisfying to land a shot, especially on a far away enemy. And it's really cool that you're using your own engine too, I know from experience doing that stuff is tough, so really good job on that!
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoy the game; The engine part was tough and I did not know if I was going to make the submission deadline until the last hour
i dont understand shit, just start shooting things. Best game ever.
very nice music
