Ok - the game is somehow linear BUT it's really good: the oppressive idea and the kind of implementations fit - I loved your pixel art and the way you let us interact with characters to study them - plus the music and voice-acting were spectacular.  And I loved the end of the story. Congratulations :-)

Thank you, Marco!

You're right, I tend do lean more towards linearity I guess. The pixelart is done by the incredibly talented Gwendolyne Yamashita and the music by Bertrand Guegan (who also made the great music to Lucy Dreaming) and Leonie Schliesing is just such a pro VA!

I really love the idea. Good pixel art and a very good realization.

Developer

thank you! The pixelart is made by Gwendolyn Yamashita, I'll pass on the compliment!

I am not managing to play it through Mac, please help!

Developer(+1)

Are you trying to play on the browser? That should work without a problem. I actually had to delete the downloadable Mac build as I had problems getting it to run. I might re-upload later but playing in the browser should work fine. Which error message do you get?

Submitted

No error message but after the first dialogue nothing more seems to be clickable, when the building with windows and red flags appears next to the paper file. Or I am turning crazy, that might be another possibility. Thanks...

Developer(+1)

you're definitely not turning crazy! So you clicked two underlined passages, then there's some monologue, a person appearing, more monologue and three more people appearing that should flash. You'll need to click all three of them once.

Tell me if this is helping you or if it differs in any way for you.

Thanks, it worked. I managed to get it played tonight, I really loved it.

I loved this game. It's such a heart breaking story, you just want sit there quietly after finishing it, especially because you know this happened in real life to so many people. I enjoyed the gameplay too, the puzzles were easy but I really liked the mechanics of the game.  The voice acting and the graphics were really good too. This has the makings of a really good puzzle/investigative game if you choose to work on it further. I know I would definitely play it! Great job!

Thank you for your kind words. I've had a first look at The Lost Borealis Expedition and was really impressed by it. Can't wait to get back to it to finish up on my rating :)

It's a great idea for a game. I could have played it for longer. The ending was quite predictable, but the game was fun to play.

What a fun and unique approach. The preview screenshots made me think it was going to a conventional point and click, but instead I'm poring over files and deducing which of my loved ones are spies. The soundtrack, story and voice acting were great. Just perfect!
