Is this a Remix/Remake?

If so, please share what your starting 'ingredients' were in your new recipe.
I remixed the star blocks and timer blocks from my other game, Blind as a Bat. They're just cosmetic though, they act as regular solid platform blocks.

The limits for shooting and double jump is a nice idea to mix things up. Makes me think about every action I take, which is something I have not encountered much in platformers.

Fun game :) love the chip tunes music, especially level 3!! Also love the character design. The game felt like a throwback to Jazz Jackrabbit a little bit which felt really nostalgic!

Be careful with full screen flashes when you get the powerups. Those combined with the flickering glitches in the underwater section of level 2 kind of strained my eyes (around 4:05 in my video), and could also be triggering to people with epilepsy, so it's worth considering how to reduce that risk.

I also tend to associate space bar with jump so I had a bit of trouble with the keyboard layout. No problem, though! It prompted me to remap my controller to your keys using AntiMicroX and played it that way. Controls felt great with D-Pad and A/B buttons, although the friction was a little slippery sometimes.

Overall everything was really great and I had a fun time playing!! I like the double jump effect and also how the resources are limited, it makes you really consider when and where to use it. Nice work! Here is my playthrough:

Thanks for all the feedback! That flicker is insane, I never saw it during my testing, so it’s useful to have a video to analyze. I’ll try to figure out what exactly was causing that. And good comment about the full screen flashes. Thanks again!

I composed all three music tracks using Lovely Composer, which is a tool similar the music sequencer in the old Mario Paint. I’m glad you enjoyed the music and the character designs.

Oh, wow!  I not only played it, I actually beat it!  Good job!

With some polish, you can have a serious platforming engine at your disposal.  You have put in some good work, here, and it shows!  You have a good grasp at platformer mechanics.  The limits on flight and shooting are interesting, for sure.  However, aren't you worried the rabbit will gain 100 lbs. if all it does is eats chocolate, regularly?  :D

Nits:

  • More details on the game page (like what each arrow key does) would be helpful.
  • Might want to mention you can jump on enemies.  It can help save on ammo.
  • Falling off the screen edge?  Might want something that limits your X and Y positions on the map.
  • The chocolate collecting sound was a bit loud and sharp.
  • No option to pause the game?
  • Cannot jump from enemy to enemy.  I die if I try to jump on a second one.
  • 2nd level I ran into a problem with the tile foreground flickering a lot.

Yes, I know there was a time limit (I had the same one) and I not dismissing your efforts.  You did a splendid job and I strongly encourage you to keep it up!

Thanks so much! I’ll take this to heart and work to make my next game even better! This detailed report is invaluable for my improvement.

Thanks for not taking it negatively.  I was not trying to sound like that, in anyway!
