The shade / basic 2d lighting is really cool. I was very frustrated by the actual platforming though. Fully agree with the feedback from Pyrious related to that. It just doesn't seem like rapier's KCC is a great experience for this style of game.

Developer

Hey, thanks for checking out my game! Originally I had used rapier's character controller, but it had certain issues so I opted for a makeshift one. I'll definitely look into ways of properly implementing the built-in controller to make the movement feel better. Cheers!

It is not easy to make precise jumps with the slipperiness, the music and the crackle sounds are pretty soothing though.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! The slipperiness is probably a tad high, and lowering it is something I will absolutely look into.

I got pretty stuck on one of the jumps, I think it was the 4th level? It was hard to gauge if movement was slippery or not.. I wasn't sure exactly how the melting mechanic affected the gameplay.

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks for the feedback! The movement was definitely slippery and reducing said slipperiness is something that I would like to fix to make the movement feel just right.

Neat idea! I liked the chill music and the gentle crackle of the sun. There were a few abrupt transitions between screens where the wrong level flashed up for half a second before being replaced, but a fun jam entry!

Developer

Thanks for checking out my game! The level flashing is definitely an issue (has to do with loading assets when they are needed vs ahead of time), and I will look into this fix. Thanks!

It’s a cute vibe. The gameplay would benefit a lot from a better character controller, though: A little faster movement on the ground, coyote time, not sinking into adjacent water when falling from high up, and some feedback like VFX, SFX, or animations in response to player input.

Thanks for checking out my game! I definitely agree, the controller  is a bit rough and I will look into fixes for it in the future. Animations, visual and sound effects are on my radar for improvements and will hopefully be added soon. Thank you!

interesting concept. I think the snowman needs to melt a little faster because I found myself mostly ignoring that mechanic and being fine

Developer

Hello, thanks for the feedback! The snowman melt rate is something I should have considered more while making the game and designing levels. I will look into changing the snowman's melt rate as well as improving level design to better complement said feature. Thanks for playing my game!
