super cool game! felt so polished, really appreciated the little popup at the beginning with the in browser and download options. everything felt really well thought out and super professionally approached.

very unsettling, everything comes together in a way that really enhances the fear you were going for. the lighting felt perfect, the sounds felt exactly right, and the layout was exactly what it needed to be. great work!

Thank you for the very constructive feedback! :D

Sound design 10/10 love the vibe and atmosphere of the game.  Unsettling & creepy

Developer(+1)

Huge thanks for playing, we're glad you had a great time! :D

We were just about to check out your submission as well, but it seems like you removed it from the entries. It had really good visuals and mechanics, so we wanted to say great job! Maybe the reason why you removed it is because you were transitioning from Unity to Godot.

We also make all our games in Godot, so feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions or want to hear any tips from our experience using Godot. Have a wonderful day! :D

Hey, our game is up again! you are more than welcome to take a look at it. Yes we just recently switched over to Godot so this game jam was more of a learning the ropes of Godot kinda thing.

Looks cool, but the jam theme doesn't seem integrated in any meaningful way.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your feedback! This was quite an interesting topic, as the Bigmode Game Jam tells us to interpret “mode” in your own way using any definition of the word.

Feel free to ask Google to "define mode", here's what it has to say:
"a way or manner in which something occurs or is experienced, expressed, or done."

Our game is built around a real dream that has occurred in the past and helps the player relive it, in a dreamlike & intense manner. We consider this to be a valid and meaningful integration, but you are always free to have your own opinion! :D

Yeah, that's fair. It's a difficult theme and I don't mean to be rude. I also think there's some real talent on display here and I enjoyed the game's visuals a ton. I just think it's hard to tell this exists in any specific manner of experience, story or not, without another manner of experience to provide it a frame of reference, you know? Cool stuff regardless and very polished!

Thank you so much for the kind words. You gave your feedback in a very respectable manner and we really appreciate that! :D

It's great to hear that you really enjoyed our experience. We also checked out your game today and it has very good visuals & mechanics. Keep up the good work! :D

Haha I was going to make a tower defense style game (with physics) but the only way i could see to use the thyme "mode" was the way or manner in which the baddies get to the castle, didn't think that was defined enough tho lol, btw nice game.

Gross, wierd, creepy fun! loved it and the style was just oozing out of it. Felt like house.wad on crack

Developer(+1)

Thank you! We also really liked the style of your game! :D

I can really appreciate how cinematic the whole experience is, especially for a horror game! The animation is really top notch as well. Usually horror games don't hold my interest for very long, but the way you crafted your story/world kept me engaged. Incredible experience

Developer

That means a lot. Thank you for playing and giving such a kind feedback! :D

Goddamn, the visual style is well done and embedded into this. Whoever did the sound design is goated as hell too. No bugs I could find or anything that didn't flow well, awesome job! Ambience/10

Developer (1 edit)

Huge thanks for your comment! We're glad you really enjoyed the sound design, as we dedicated almost 1.5 days just for mixing & choosing the right sound effects and music for our game! Most of the unedited sound effects & music assets are completely royalty-free and all their credits can be found directly in the game!

While designing the audio & editing the tracks, we paid attention to how the person experiencing the dream would feel and how their heartbeat would change with the occurring events. There is also a very subtle correlation between, how the intensity of the experience rises and how several pieces of music actually start stacking on top of each other...

It was certainly a lot of fun crafting it! Thank you once more for your very valuable feedback! :D

Wow, everything is so detailed. The ambience you create is so well crafted. From the writing the the extraordinary sound design and use. The lighting was spot on. This definitely felt like a good horror shortfilm and I loved it very much! Congratulations on making this great game/experience, i can't believe you made it in little over a week!

Only thing that might affect your overall ratings is how well this fits the theme of mode. It feels like you were already planning on building this and tried to find a justification to fit it into this jam. Still, it doesn't change the fact that you should be proud of what you made, and I wish the best of luck for your next projects!

Thank you so much for the kind words and such a well written feedback! It really does put a smile on our faces to hear that so many of you are really enjoying what we truly love doing! :D

We really put a lot of effort into this project to craft an intense & unique experience. We're glad you loved the atmosphere and sound design! As for the theme, this is why we really like the Bigmode Game Jam. The word "Mode" is so vague, that it gives everyone so many fantastic ideas to build around on and to have a really good time crafting them!

Thank you once more for your feedback and we wish you a fantastic day! :D

Firstly, i would like to say that these visuals are absolutely amazing, you should pat yourself on the back for producing these, they look spectacular!

I like the concept of the game, the atmosphere, the way it's executed, it's done quite well! I could feel a sense of dread while playing it so that is definitely a sign that it was done relatively right!

(Spoilers down below, play the game first before reading this if you're not the OP)

I do wish the game went on a teeny bit longer though, as it ending when a vent is unscrewed is a bit anticlimactic, something more could've helped

I also think the jumpscare wasn't that scary, the dread was definitely there, but the actual scare itself didn't really provoke much out of me (I do like the monster design though! Looks like it came out of Mandela Catalogue)

Overall, definitely would give this a solid overall 8.5/10! For 2 weeks of development, this feels unbelievably polished despite its short length!

I will rate this accordingly when rating starts!

Edit: Rated

If you could, could you play my submission too? I would like to get some thoughts in: Frostbite Mountain

We're glad you had a fantastic time playing our game and really enjoyed the visuals! We (2 people) had a lot of fun working on this and crafting an intense atmosphere... :D

We find jumpscares in most horror games to be too cliché & cheap. That's why we took a completely different approach and introduced an original type of fear...

Developer (2 edits) (+25)

It was an absolute blast creating this short horror experience! Thank you for being a part of this journey as well!

Oh, and here's a small reminder once more that our game can be played directly on your browser without downloading.

Feel free to come by and check out our game. We truly enjoy hearing your feedback...
