This was amazing! I loved the humor and creative platforming. The movement itself also felt really good and fluid and the wall jump mechanic felt great as well. Lovely work, great job!
What this game lacks in graphics it makes up for in charm and humor. A lot of the jokes and (literal) fourth wall breaks were quite funny, and the editor mode mechanic was a nice way to use the jam theme. If I had one suggestion, it would be to add more checkpoints around the map, especially right before some of the troll parts. I still had fun regardless though.
I would appreciate it if you checked out my submission as well :)
I feel like this will be underrated because of the graphics. It's hard to put into words how well the atmosphere is: I noticed the `EditorModeHotReload.dll` in your controls and I thought that was a mistake left there; The jumping at the same time the dialogue was happening, I thought that was just an oversight. When the dialogue and gameplay revealed these things as intentional, I was caught off guard and was pleasantly surprised, very well done.
I really like the dialog, and some of the puzzles are really fun, but man does this need checkpoints, I got pretty far and got blue screened and had to restart basically the whole game. :( But otherwise really good!
Man, I love how there's dialog, and that troll definitely got me. I kinda like that I can jump with many buttons but it was a little confusing for me at first since I couldn't wall jump with enter and the wall jump one only works with space or w. I don't know if that part is intended.
I do love the idea! But I find a bit issue with this part of the map where I ran to the right and I just died. I'm not sure if there're other issue in other section but I do recommend to block off the non-intended ways. I thought there'd be terrain over there since in the early map section I could go into different directions for pathfinding(which I really love).
I do really like the concept of this game, I find it really fun. I'm a little confused why we can place spike, though.
I do recommend to put more frequent checkpoints. I kinda died a lot X"D
Great job!
Haha yes, we noticed that just before submitting but forgot about it. As you may have noticed the level design did not get the time, attention nor love it deserved. With some better time management, there are a couple of things we would have liked to work on a bit more.
Thanks for the feedback! It's an honor to have the capybara guys give us some advice!
It's okay!
You pretty much got a lot done and I enjoyed my time with the game! ♥️
The priority of a game in game jam is after all: to get it to work and you nailed that part! It's okay to just try to keep it in mind for future projects. ^^
Also wHat HoNOR omg😭😭😭
Fun idea but I think it needs some limitations to turn it into a fun platformer.
Despite that tho the trolling was really fun and there were some hilarious fourth wall breaks. Really added a lot to it.
The movement is a little much but you have a lot of space to make it not feel awkward. But if you were to go further with the idea I would suggest turning down the speed and jump height a bunch
Thank you for making it.
yeah, definitely would have liked to balance the character more, but had to get started with level building before there was no more time. In the end we sticked with a very floaty character with big movements to try and experiment with using the editor mode while in the air in slow-mo. I think many of the ideas given in these comments would help turn this into an actual fun game rather than the experimental state it's in. Thanks for your feedback!
I like how this allows you to be pretty creative in how you platform. I think this idea can definitely be expanded further if you made it so that the items you created only has a short lifespan and there's a cooldown or limit to how much you can place at once and designing levels around that limitation.
Those are some really nice ideas. We definitely wanted to add some element of pressure that would force the player to think / act quickly to avoid exploiting the editor mode too much. I like the idea of a lifespan to the platforms placed, maybe make them glitch out to make it coherent with the theme. Our idea was to have some incoming danger like the blue screen that appears in one of the rooms, but generalized to the rest (forcing the player to escape and thus not taking too much time placing 100s of platforms).
Thanks for the ideas and the feedback!
cool game. i liked the wall jump mechanic as well as the editor mode. i laughed when my game 'crashed' lol. good job!
the game’s really charming, I enjoyed it
there were a couple really good trolls in here
its a bit weird that you can jump with z but only wall jump with space
there’s some issues with exiting a room and it getting stuck or killing you
i wish the editor would stay open until i pressed tab again
The game has crashed. Love that part. I also love the fourth wall part too.
This one gets high marks for fun. Mario Maker but editor mode is while you're playing, and the game is sarcastic, what more could you ask for?
The concept is great, the controls are smooth, and it made me laugh. So overall, fantastic work!
Fun game, i think i took a shortcut to beat it but the story was amazing and the mechanic of building was fun to discover new ways of traversing quickly.
Cool idea! I think I beat the game....
