How does your game represent Mode?
Each playable character has a different stat mode (i.e. Irena has a Cleric Mode which increases attack, whereas her Nun Mode increases her magic).

There are also two different modes for enemy encounters: On-Screen and Random. On-Screen encounters have shadows which will initiate battles if they touch the player, whereas Random will cause battles to occur randomly every few steps.

The art style of the game is really good. I was very surprised with how much game you were able to do. Well done! Great storyline too

I didn’t expect to get a full story there, but it was a pleasant surprise. I didn’t feel like I really understood what I was getting into with the mode decisions for each character, but it was nice to not have to worry about stats/classes/jobs on top of them. Good job!

Super polished game! Amazing how you managed to fit basically an entire storyline into it! Great job!

This seemed like the introductory portion of a larger RPG, but I suppose the runts going home was a good place to end it. Nice work!

I'm very impressed with how put-together the world is. I like the gritty city feel and the pixel art is great. I particularly enjoy the rain effect during battles.

really cool, i’ve never seen an actual full-blown jrpg submitted to a game jam before! (hopefully dunkey is merciful upon you :P) the story was very unique for one, and i really liked the characters’ stories, they were very well written! i do feel that the enemy encounters were a little lacking - it didn’t make much sense to be playing in a cool, grungy gang setting and have all of the combats be against random monsters. it would’ve been much more climactic if the final boss was against a high-ranking member of the rival gang! either way, the combats still played really fun, at least. i loved how i was able to make use of strategies that synergize between multiple party members’ abilities. great job!

Thanks a ton! Yeah, I was a bit worried about how much Dunkey might enjoy it, but after watching the Super Mario RPG review, I think there's a chance he might like it. I'm somewhat committed to the genre just because I like focusing on narrative so much, so I'm glad that the writing came together in the final product!

Looks great. Love the feel of playing an old SNES RPG.

Very impressed you made a turn-based rpg in two weeks. Very well made, with nice design decisions

Thanks! It's  big compliment to be compared to pokemon for turn-based battling!

This was a fun one and really thoughtfully designed. I like how the gameplay serves the needs of the story (minor spoiler: specifically when you have to lose 2 characters temporarily).

The enemy variety is really nice and the final showdown is appropriately epic. The world feels lived-in and the characters' motivations are intriguing.

My favorite part was finding the hidden items and the fact that you let the player choose whether they wanted Random encounters or On-Screen encounters, that's a huge quality of life benefit that will satisfy fans of both types. It was ready to play in impressive time too.

Thanks! I'm glad all my effort put into the narrative came through in the final product!
