How does your game represent "Power"?
We wanted to interpret the theme in a way which lets you play as a force of nature. A star is tremendously powerful, as it has the power to sustain life but also to cause immense damage (through solar flares, storms, intense solar activity etc.).

A star is the "god" of its solar system: it is the most powerful entity and the most potent weapon. A star creates the solar system around it, but it can also wipe it out in an instant. In Solar Bloom, you decide how the Star’s power is wielded: creatively to build a solar system, or destructively to feed upon nearby asteroids and planets.

It's a bit confusing, especially the whole make a planet thing but it was very enjoyable

Developer

Glad to hear you enjoyed it! Regarding the confusion, I think it stems from the fact we went with a realistic orbit simulation. Overall, right clicking an asteroid will turn it into a dwarf planet, that will need to collide with another asteroid to create a new planet. You can then modify the planet orbits if you right click them again, but you need to do it in a step by step fashion, matching a planet's orbit with the next (closer to the sun) planet's orbit

5th on the leaderboard, not bad. This is relaxing and fun, I like all the different types of planets that can be made. I like the lava planet and gas giant :)

cool idea - love the artwork and overall vibe. The mechanics are rather enjoyable

I really like how the game looks, the music is nice, but the game itself is confusing to me. I must be missing how to actually create planets.

Developer

Hi! Sorry for the confusion. The way to make planets is to start by capturing an asteroid. If you pull (right click) one, it will turn into a dwarf planet orbiting the sun. Colliding it with another asteroid or dwarf planet will turn it into a special planet based on the distance to the sun. Hope this helps :)

Okay, I guess that makes sense :)

It's really pretty and satisfying. But the game is a bit confusing I don't understand why I'm losing and how making planets or destroying things effect the game. A tutorial level or more feedback might help

Hi! Thanks for trying our game! You are right. While we tried to simplify the game, we should introduce a tutorial.

I love how the UI looks and it feels, but I wasnt sure how to capture any planets, I  was trying to suck in the asteroids, maybe I didnt last long enough to get a planet. do you get them from sucking in enough asteroids? I will keep playing but even with that struggle it was fun to keep my star alive

Developer(+1)

Hi! Thanks for trying our game. We tried to keep some orbital simulation aspects with minimum control. The way you get planets is by pulling (right click) asteroid. This creates a dwarf planet. Onecd this collides with an asteroid or another dwarf planet, you get a special planet, based on how far away from the sun is created. Hope you enjoy the game :)

Love the presentation! Great work!

Great to your you enjoyed the game!

This was pretty cool! Took a second to figure out the controls but it was fun.

Developer

Thanks for showing perseverance. This is the compromise we reached between ease of play, and simulated orbits.
