The problem was more that we thought it was fun, but now that I've played it a few times through, a few modes should be removed/heavily changed.

Agreed! We didn't realize they were problems, at the time. The gameplay loop was finished late into development because we, possibly foolishly, were making art and game mechanics at the same time. I coded all of the modes before implementing the restarting of levels.

Thanks for the lengthy feedback. It is important to understand fully the crunch that any developer or team goes through during the duration of a game jam -- even though this was 20 days, we really didn't have a ton of time to make a good solution to frustration, especially as deep rooted a problem as it is.

Try out the web version, because the windows build crashes anyways. I'm not sure why your rumble would be active because we never implemented it at all.

Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed. I definitely have modes I don't like either, for instance, I really dislike retaliation mode and recoil mode.

Good idea, limit the modes to certain levels. Kinda defeats the randomness but it could work.

I like that idea a lot. A reroll would have added some control over the RNG

Thank you 🤖

Thanks for the feedback, and I agree. The controls were a bit slippery/hard to control when they didn't need to be.

Thanks, glad you had fun!

Thanks for the feedback, and I agree, to some extent. The modes were meant to make it harder, but then I suppose that the game should be balanced around that, and remove standard mode altogether.

Great game, probably the only gripe I have is that the two mechanics kind of vie for your attention. Each one serves almost too similar of a purpose, while being controlled oppositely. Minor gripe, very fun game, polished to a shine.

Yay, glad you enjoyed! Your game was really really awesome as well, I loved the credits especially!

(1 edit)

Cool idea, a bit janky and it breaks at some point, due to either an invisible/intangible enemy or a mismatched "enemy counter". I really like the art style, and the inverse kinematics on the legs. (I assume)

Thank you! Very kind.

Probably my favorite game thus far, I actually finished it, and the modes were really cool, albeit some of them could serve the same design purposes :) But it's fun to be simon belmont with your whip in Super Castlevania 4 and twirl enemies to death. Good enemy variety, and fun boss fight. Great game!

I'm glad that his avatar got you to try it. And I'm glad you think that it's a fun idea! The game is really really hard, I totally agree, and it does NOT give much room for learning mechanics... I don't like some of the modes either, to be honest, especially recoil mode. On the other hand, I think that the stark differences between players is an unintended side effect! For example, mangoes thinks that recoil mode is a free win, and I really excel at rythm. Some people really do well with jetpack mode, whereas I usually don't succeed! Thank you though!

Thank you for the complements, did the web version work by chance? It doesn't crash -- as far as I know,  at least (try another browser if it doesn't load!)

Thank you!

I don't know then... Try a different browser maybe?

Thanks!

Thank you for the feedback! I THINK that the start of level 4 with sticky/standard would be possible but it's nearly frame perfect tapping of jump I think -- and as far as enemies having too much health, the best way to deal with them is one charged up shot. That takes them out in one hit :)

Thank you for the very nice complements!

I really love how this game looks. Some of the transformations were a bit odd, visually. I'm not sure what upside-down mode was trying to convey lol. Fun platforming and cool gimmicks.

Cool looking, I think that it is only a rough fit for the theme. It really looks good though.

Very cool game. I think it fits the theme well enough. Very pretty art,  but the sounds were so quiet for me!

Yeah, it's really a hard game.

Thank you so much!

Play the web version!

Cut game, simple and fun. I like all the different guns.

Thanks, and most definitely true

I'm glad you enjoyed (?)!

Thank you for all the feedback and complements.

Yes, the NES Shovel knight palette!

Possibly come back after all the judging and we will probably try to fix some of the issues with the windows build!!

Aww, you should have kept going! You were so close to getting the ending!

Thank you so much!

Thanks for the feedback, and yes the game is hard. :)

Thank you so much!

Thank you so much! Don't worry, you're not alone in saying it's really difficult, because it is. I think it's difficult and I created the character controller.
