Not sure what I'm missing but I couldn't figure out how to damage to the core. I like the 6dof movement and direction of the strong colorful lighting!

Hey there! Thanks for trying out my game!

I'm assuming you've got stuck on the very first red core; at the uppermost level of the map?

Well, there are 4 rooms there: One is your starting point, one houses the red core (Ahead of the start), and  two side rooms; one with two yellow nodes (Power Nodes) and one with a single green node (Research node). You proceed through the game by building structures on those power and research nodes; then use the power gained to unlock new weapons & abilities.

ooooh ok I'll definitely try it again today, I want to give it a fair shot! I was just so confused why my weapons wouldn't fire, makes sense that I hadn't researched them yet lol. Thanks for the tip

I Like the idea, just missing that more intuitive gameplay.

Honestly like the look of the game even with the default gray boxes.
Definitely add sounds/music to the experience as it would enhance it a lot !

Developer

Thanks for the feedback!

I wanted to direct the player with their abilities at that exact moment: i.e. at the start, you don't have a weapon, so you would need to unlock one by researching them... But you can't build a research node, because you don't have necessary power... so you need to build power nodes, to extract power. Then you build the research node, which in turn unlocks the research menu... and one of the first things you can get is the lasers & missiles for you to use.

Maybe I should work on this flow, or at the very least, restict the research menu a bit more to hint players?

The idea of building your unit up by constructing elements and doing research elements. I can see that working well in a space exploration kind of game. In the tight environments it can be a bit tough to manage the wait for (begs for larger levels and more targets!) but there’s an interesting idea here.

Developer

Hello Hudson, and Thanks for your feedback! I'm wondering, were you able to make it until the end of the game?

The original scope of the game was that there would be actual enemy targets flying around, and they would also capture those power and research nodes; so you'd fight them over the control of those nodes. Of course, game jam time does exist :D

The layout of the level, and overall balancing of the game mechanics got left until the end of the jam time, so hence the ugly graybox. The level would've been far more sprawling, there would be more targets, and more enemies, your weapons would've acted a bit more differently, etc, etc... Of course, that calls for a post-jam touch on this one.

Thanks for playing!

By the way, I've played your game as well!

Thanks for playing my game as well! I managed to upgrade myself and destroy the sphere but wasn’t able to figure out where to go from there. I figured that was the end since the exit didn’t work earlier.

Developer

There are a handful of spheres around... and a big, boss sphere at the lowest level... Those smaller spheres open the big, red forcefields.

This is a free-flight 6-DOF game, by the way... meaning you can proceed up and down as well :)

I really appreciated the ambitious scope of this game. I wasn't able to find the enemy core but I gave it a fair shot, around 30 minutes. The navigation is pretty hard given the grayboxed environment, and eventually I flew into a corridor with no lights and couldn't find my way back out. I liked how the movement felt, and being able to allocate power to different systems was neat. I don't think the increased boost drain was really required at higher engine power though. Overall I think this would be a cool game if it was given more time.

Developer

Hello jsburg, and thanks for playing!

This project will receive a post-jam update, for sure. I had much fun creating this one, and I'm curious how it would turn out myself :)

:D Me too... though I Wish I Had More Lights.

Thanks for giving it a try :)
