Interesting concept!

The start was brutal though. Only having one shot before needing to reload is a bit frustrating. The precise timing needed on shooting the can to make the platform in the right place was annoying. I think that if the bullet followed the can and always hit it then you could remove a lot of the frustration while keeping the precision "get the can in the right place" aspect. Definitely has potential though!

Hey, thanks for playing! I totally agree with the absurd precision being overkill (everyone has said something similar about it). I really wanted to change it but the deadline was brutal to keep up with. I really like your feedback for improving it and plus it would still maintain the precise timing element. I could probably scrap the whole shooting element in that case. Thanks again and I hope you have a great day!

I enjoyed this! The controls got to me a bit (r felt a bit out of place with j/k/arrows) and the timing could maybe be a tad more forgiving on making platforms. The vibe is pretty choice!

I'm not sure if there was supposed to be a cinematic at the end when I found the family or not; I seem to have gotten stuck in a loop running (can post a vid on request if you don't know what I mean.)

I think if you iron out the jank-potential in the core mechanic the experience will improve about 100%.

Yeah, that's suppose to be the end of the game. I set a challenge for myself to do the jam solo despite being away from game dev for over 3 years. Unfortunately that meant I had to sacrifice many details like an explicit ending, fine-tuning gameplay, and minor bug fixes like the player running in place when they cross the goal line (let me know if I misunderstood that).

Thanks for getting back to me! I think you understood.

This is obviously still pretty cool, and will be watching if you do a post-jam version or anything else.

This was great fun!

Things I liked:

  • I like how you used transparencies to add more values and tones to, what would otherwise be, a pretty limited palette.  I like the colors you chose instead of regular black&white, it adds a lot to the overall good art style.
  • The controls feel nice and responsive
  • The level design is very good and the goal for completing each section is very clear.
  • The mechanic is very original and fresh (or I just haven't encountered anything like it so far)

Suggestions:

  • The beginning feels a little bit too hard, even though it gets easier once you collect more ammo. Reducing the difficulty at the beginning makes sure the player can play longer without giving up.
  • The platform "bullet" disappears before it hits the wall, it seems. I'm guessing it's because you want to make sure the platform's position feels right once it's created. It takes away from some potential close-range trick shots.

Overall, great game I wouldn't mind spending money on should you take it further.

Glad you enjoyed the game. I didn't intend for the beginning to be hard but I'll chalk that up to lack of experience with level design. As for the bullet disappearing, that was a poor design choice on me for using physics (which I'm not particularly good at) to shoot as opposed to some other means. Overall, thank you for the great feedback!

I absolutely love the design of this game, even tho its not strictly 2 colors it looks so good. I love the concept of throwing something and then hitting what you threw, its challenging and fun, im not that good at timing so i found myself retrying and retryin until i got it. I also enjoy the music--  its soothing while i was stressing trying to time my throws! lol I didnt get to complete the game but i still enjoyed it alot! :)

Thanks for playing! Glad you had fun. If you have time to spare, could you tell me what part of the game broke the two color rule? I'm sure I missed something as the days started to blur together.
