It's a really fun game, the visuals and the music are all so nicely done.I have  gotten a really unique experience when I got a scenario that :I had 2 snipets left to collect ,the bug monster was right behind me and the music was just kicking ass, letting me feel like I was a total  badass...... and then I died. The jump and the distance between platforms are kinda ruff, but you get used to them. The music and the voices that want to distract you are really fucking awesome, and nicely executed.

I hope you guys post the music for this game on youtube/soundcloud or something like that

Developer

thanks for the feedback )) really glad that you liked the game. Soundcloud... hmmm... we haven't thought about it. Maybe we'll post it there, because why not. -- Pavel

I really enjoyed this game! It's hard and punishing in a good way. Idea of the deadline being a wall of flesh that chases you all the way is great xD Even if you know how to play, you still need a skill to collect all code snippets. It's easy to accidentally grab a bug and lose some progress. Some items can spawn below the ground and you can't really get them. The game needs to be less random and more balanced, then it will be even more fun to play :)

You can watch my (btw russian) playthrough at https://www.twitch.tv/videos/328062113?t=01h57m12s

Also be sure to rate my game too https://itch.io/jam/blackthornprod-game-jam-1/rate/319192

Thanks! I've seen the stream after it was done. You've pointed out some useful things, like having a control reference on-screen. I'll definitely take them into consideration. ^^

This was super fun. Cutscene, graphics, music all fit together in their quirky style. I love the parallax backgrounds. The only issue I have is the randomness of the items / how hard the game feels. As I got better I got a string of bad runs and it was a bit weird because it wasn't what I was expecting. Great stuff!

Developer

Thanks! Glad that you liked it. We just didn't have enough time to playtest it properly (if at all), so yea, it definitely needs some tweaking.

Nice game, good graphics theme, gameplay, etc. A little bit hard, but still fun. It would be nice if it kept track of score some how.

Developer

Thank you :) Yea, we did want to add scoring and an 'enter a number to build the level based on it' option, so that you could try the same level again and again to get a better score. We just didn't have enough time to implement all that :)

A really great game I'm impressed ! Keep going :D

This was pretty fun running game! The mechanics of destroying bad things and grabbing good things is challenging when you have to keep and eye on the ground. And the cutscene's music is perfect, it was one of the best cutscenes I've seen in this jam!
There's only one thing that I didn't understand. I had a perfect run, grabbed all ideas and C# scripts, and destroyed all bugs and hourglasses. But I still died because the left border reached me. I don't know if this is a bug or if I did something wrong.
You did a great job in this entry! ^^

Thank you very much for the feedback ^_^

About the run... Well, the game does have random elements. Lots of them. We of course did some parameters tweaking, but it's still random . I never had a run I could not succesfully finish even if I did everything right, but it doesn't mean that there can't be such a run at all. Usually, if you do everything right, the monster moves far behind the screen, it all gets a bit less intense, so you can gather the last code snippets in a relative peace. There is a very rare unity-physics glitch tho, that makes you stuck to a platform... But if you haven't experienced that, then it was just probably a series of really unlucky random results. Like items spawning with the most possible delays, so you keep slowly sliding left, because there's literally nothing to help you move right.

If you want, just try another run. Should go better )

I did tried a couple of times later and this was the only strange perfect run I had. It's really tricky when the RNG puts good and bad items together, but for me that was the fun of this game!
Congrats again! ^^

thanks ))))

Very funny and challenging! Liked it a lot. Spend a lot of time dying at the beginning. The mechanics and controls are very intuitive, both firing the rocket and the grappling hook. Music fits well to the art style. Good work! /alex

That was a really good game! I playing it! I didn't really get the hang of it until like 10 minutes in I think a tutorial would be nice. :D

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks! As for tutorials, we do think that they should always be in any game, and not as just a text window in some menu, but as part of the gameplay. We just didn't have the time to implement it, unfortunately. So right now if you don't understand the controls or what's going on at all and what you should do - read the description on the game's page. There is a 'how to play' button in the menu, but it's partly a joke aimed at fellow Unity developers, so if you're not familiar with Unity, it could probably be confusing.
