Good platformer. Wasn't very innovative, though, as it felt very alike the Mario games. It was also pretty annoying to restart from the very beginning any time I took a wrong step and fell down a hole.
Great music though, and the art was stunning.
Animations could have been more responsive still.
Neat game! I included it in my Blackthornprod GAME JAM #3 compilation video series!
Thanks for the 1min feature! Sorry ya got swarmed by dem pigeons.
This was a fun platformer to play! I love the retro-inspired style and the music as well! Awesome graphics and animations!
Thanks! I鈥檓 glad you enjoyed it
Friendly little platformer. Pixel art, retro music. Well done.
I love the pixel art and the music, and I think that the way you used the jam theme is very original. The differences between Les modes encourages you to keep playing. I would have liked to see more differnces in the map between modes, like zones that only a mode can reach or something like that, but it is still a very polished worthplaying game. Good job!
I really appreciate the feedback! We played around with idea changing the level look/layout for each character or making some areas only accessible if you're playing as a specific character. That coupled with a way to switch between them on the fly or with a collectible. All those Metroidvania elements were a bit out of scope for this jam but I do wish I could've added some.
The art and animation in this game is really well done! It's also impressive that you developed three characters in a week for this game, each one with their own unique mechanics. I did feel like Sleepy and Angry felt a little too clunky to use movement-wise, so I stuck with Les. I'd add checkpoints at various points in this game, since falling to your death means starting over, which can be quite frustrating. Great work!
Thanks! Yea, I was working on angry and sleepy till the end to get them working... enough lol. The big thing is I shouldn't have given those two a landing cool down. I originally thought it would make sense with sleepy's getting up animation and angry's heaviness but in hindsight it just kinda crippled them. Check points are in for my next game for sure馃槈.
Sweet! I enjoyed the visuals and presentation. There were some collectibles that I did not know how to get and even doubted that I could. Regardless, it didn't ruin my experience. Good job!
Thanks, appreciate the kind words, and I assure you all collectibles are attainable lol just maybe not that easy to get to. Les has a bit of coyote time, angry has his air dash, and sleepy should be able to reach anywhere. Anyways thanks for the feedback!
Nice game i love the art and music.
I would ether change the combat or the way the birds fight cuz the birds were above me and then flew down on to me and i couldn't attack up so it got annoying or you could make the birds avoid the player until they get to the players feet and then attack but that would be more complex.
Also maybe put some check point after every screen or every other screen cuz it got very annoying replaying the same part over and over just to try one more thing at the last screen and then die it made figuring things out harder and not in a good way.
And one more thing THANK YOU for making the music persistent! i love it when creators do that, so many creators don't make the music persistent and it restarts every time i die or go to the next level i get sick of the song soooOO much faster, so ill give you a 5 star on that. Most people dont make the music persistent and its very annoying when they don't so its refreshing seeing someone do that!
edit: the sleepy guy is great! i like it
Thanks for the comment! I totally agree with the check points, if I had an extra day they would've been in for sure. Note taken on the enemies, I have a few ideas how I could make that scenario not happen. Thanks about the music, that wasn't even intentional lol. It was just the way I had my scenes set up the music looped until you got to the end, but now I know to keep that feature馃榿!
Cool game! The art looks amazing and I'm impressed that you managed to get three different playable characters in there! I did not have to much problem with responsiveness (even though it could be improved) and the only thing I lacked was checkpoints.
Very well done!
Thanks for the kind words, Yea it was down to the wire to get them all in and somewhat playable lol, checkpoints would have been a good addition
Very creative use of the theme! I particularly liked the visuals but the controls didn't feel great to me for some reason.
Thanks for playing! That's fair, seems like a common issue definitely taking notes馃槈
I liked the art style! Good joob.
Good game. The art and animation were outstanding. I wish there was checkpoints for each level, it was kind of annoying have to redo everything if you mess up.
Thanks so much my bro worked super hard on all the art and animations. Yea, check points would have been a great addition, next time i'll get to them.
The animations and overall look of the game was quite amazing, but it just felt really unresponsive, which is probably the most important thing for a platformer of this type. I did really like how all characters even have different attacks and not just different movement types, and the music and sound effects were well chosen to complement the game!
Thanks for the feedback! I really wish I could've made the characters mesh better with the platforming, it was a first platformer for me so definitely room for improvement.
The visuals are of this game are incredible but the responsivness of the platforming not so much, the character that was the best to control was the normal one, the sleepy one was falling too slow and the rage one felt like he was having some delay, but apart from that that game is good love the enemies change if you change the character it is a shame that the level doesn't too.
Thanks for the feedback, I thought that having some landing frames might show off our animations a bit and maybe help angry get through the level but it seems to just make him and sleepy feel a bit too clunky.
The pixel art and animations in this game are absolutely phenomenal!! I especially love the sleepy dude! The only thing I would say is I don't like that they stop when they land from a jump for the animation. But overall really cool game! Especially the art :D
Thanks, I hear ya on the landing frames something I'll fix after the jam or work on for the next one! I really wish I had more time to balance them correctly.
nice and interesting game !
the controls were a bit rough though like the movements but the music really fitted the game and the pixel art and visuals were very good :D
if you have time then play my game game if you would like to :D
Really interesting game. I like the idea, the gameplay is not bad, and the art is good. Good job!
P.S.
The great retro game!
Thanks for playing, we had a lot of fun making it so im glad you liked it!
The art and animation here was extremely stunning. The unique movements of the 3 different characters was really innovative and the way you portrayed the theme that was was pretty nice as well! Sadly though, as many people mentioned, the gameplay wasn't as fluent and I kept dieing to the birds. Overall though, this was an amazing entry!
Thanks for the feedback! Couple of follow up questions, was there a particular area that the birds got you? did you utilize the attack with space bar?
Love the art style, animation and soundtrack. The gameplay is a bit clunky though.
Thanks! I totally agree, a variable jump and maybe less landing frames on angry and sleepy was in the chamber but we ran out of time.
Nice game. It's fun. I like the soundtrack.
Thanks! glad you tried it out
